Chevrolet Traverse

While the Chevrolet Traverse still has got that sense of old-school SUVs in its exterior design a bit, the same cannot be said about its interior. The cabin feels incredibly plush and rich and justifies the premium tag which comes with this SUV.

The dashboard of the Chevrolet Traverse feels wide and huge, with the four-spoke multi-functional steering wheel and a nice and wide looking combination of analog dials and rectangular MID screen making a great driver’s cockpit. The combination of walnut brown and black feels top-notch, and the broad centre console with piano black inserts around the touchscreen infotainment system and vertical AC vents complements with the rest of the interior. The interesting part of this center console is that the touchscreen unit pops up to liberate a hidden storage space behind it.

The Chevrolet Traverse also feels richer with all the contemporary bits including dual-pane sunroof and electrically adjustable and ventilated seats, and the humongous levels of space on the inside. All three rows of the Traverse offer a generous amount of room, and the long-wheelbase plays a major role here.

The Chevrolet Traverse has always had this reputation in the States of a big, brawny SUV which has a road presence like none other. With the new facelifted model, this essence has just got better, with a much fresher and contemporary design than before.

At the front, the staid face of the Chevrolet Traverse has grown up much with an angular patrol for the two partitioned familiar grille, which gets multiple chrome slats to add to the premium appeal. The block-shaped headlamps have become sleeker, and so have the housings for the small fog lamps.

The side profile of the Chevrolet Traverse, however, continues to look much old fashioned like before. And while the chrome touches on the revised window waistline and lower portion of the doors is a fresh touch, the bland design of the doors and long rear overhang make it look a bit disproportionate.

At the rear, the Chevrolet Traverse has a modest design with slimmer than before tail lamps with kink on the side edges. It looks large though, thanks to the large rear windshield which are in unison with large glass panes till the C-pillar.

The Chevrolet Traverse, in its top-spec version, is blessed with a very capable 4x4 drivetrain, which offers multiple drive modes in varying terrains to match its SUV aspirations. Thanks to its bulky stance, it feels stable on straight stretches, however, the boxy profile filters in some amount of body roll while cornering at high speeds.

Powering the Chevrolet Traverse is an equally mammoth of an engine – a 3.6-litre naturally aspirated V6 petrol engine. The petrol mill, which is coupled to a 9-speed automatic gearbox, produces a maximum power output of 312 PS, while the maximum torque output is rated at 360 Nm.

The top-notch Chevrolet Traverse gets top-notch safety features like forward collision alert, front pedestrian braking, low speed forward automatic braking, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, forward automatic braking, rear vision camera, rear cross-traffic alert, lane change alert with side blind zone alert and rear park assist, along with the regular safety bits.

The Chevrolet Traverse carries forward the big bold appeal of its predecessor even further with the new model, with revised styling which makes it look smoother but very much intimidating to look at. The plush interior cabin, off-road driving prowess and great ride quality make it a true blue luxury SUV.
