Mercedes-AMG GT 63 likely to be succeeded by a 1000-hp electric saloon

ABU DHABI: Mercedes-AMG has been developing a successor to the GT 63 4-door coupe, as reported by Autocar. The car will debut in 2025 and will be the first pure-electric model of the brand. It is expected to be the most powerful road car produced by the company ever due to new drivetrain technology.

Mercedes-AMG's new electric sports car will most likely be based on the 'AMG.EA,' the brand's high-performance EV architecture. It will be incorporated with Yasa's electric motors. Yasa is a UK-based firm that Mercedes acquired in 2021. Yasa's electric motors, built in Berlin, Germany, promise significant advancement in power. They could even outrank AMG EQS 53 4Matic's 760 hp, reaching around 1000 hp and 1350 Nm. Mercedes' One-Eleven concept utilizes rear-axle electric motors, confirming the introduction of rear-wheel-drive performance in the upcoming sports cars created by AMG.

The upcoming AMG electric car will compete with famous EV sports sedans such as the Audi e-tron GT, Porsche Taycan, and Lucid Air. This electric vehicle emphasizes dynamic engagement, handling, and formidable power. This new model will be designed as a performance car from the ground up. 

The new electric GT 63 replacement prototype will debut in 2025. The Vision 2025 concept offers a preview of its eye-catching design, featuring a 3,000 mm wheelbase, 5,100 mm length, and emphasis on handling, interior space, and aerodynamics. A high-density, custom slimline battery design will be employed for enhanced interior space and range. The cabin design of the 2025 sedan hints it will centre around a high-definition, full-width screen, continuing the commitment of AMG to innovation.

The next-generation cars manufactured by AMG will be inspired by their Mercedes-Benz counterparts, adopting a stunning cabin design with a wide high-tech screen, as hinted by the Concept One-Eleven.
