Jaecoo J6 and J8 unveiled in Thailand, launch set for Q4 2024

ABU DHABI: After introducing its premium brand Jaecoo in Malaysia, Chery has now brought it to Thailand. It recently offered a preview of the Jaecoo J6, a new battery electric vehicle scheduled to be launched in Thailand by the fourth quarter of 2024. Alongside the new battery electric vehicle J6, the lineup will also include the J8 and J7 models.

The Jaecoo J6 measures 1,910 mm in width, 4,406 mm in length, and 1,715 mm in height, with a 2,715 mm wheelbase. It is equipped with a 69.8 kWh battery that offers up to 501 km (CLTC) claimed driving range. Available in dual-motor all-wheel drive or single-motor rear-wheel drive configurations, it produces a combined output of around 279 hp and 385 Nm.

The specifications for the right-hand drive models for the Thailand market will be revealed closer to its debut by the end of 2024. Currently, the model that has been previewed retains its left-hand drive configuration as Jaecoo J6 variants with right-hand drive are not available yet.

Thailand will also get the Jaecoo 8 SUV’s plug-in hybrid variant. It has been positioned above the Chery Tiggo 8 as a more luxurious offering. The Jaecoo 8 measures 1,930 mm in width, 1710 mm in height, 4,820 mm in length, and has a wheelbase of 2,800 mm.

It boasts 605 hp and 915 Nm of torque and takes 5.4 seconds to achieve 0-100 kmph. It has a 175 km pure electric range and comes with the 'All Road Drive Intelligent System' and three rows of seats.

The introduction of the Jaecoo 8 PHEV and Jaecoo 6 EV by Jaecoo & Omoda signifies a huge step towards promoting sustainable mobility. As one of Southeast Asia’s leading automotive markets, Thailand has been embracing hybrid and electric vehicles to deal with environmental concerns. 

The launch of the Jaecoo 8 PHEV and Jaecoo 6 EV in Thailand in the final quarter of 2024 underscores the willingness of Thai consumers to embrace alternative fuel technologies.
