Ferrari has officially taken the wraps off two new hybrid masterpieces in the UAE: the 296 Speciale and the open-roof 296 Speciale A. Building on the legacy of the 296 GTB and 296 GTS, these new models represent Ferrari’s latest step in pushing hybrid technology to the limit.

Designed with motorsport-grade engineering, both cars aim to offer unmatched speed, control, and emotion — all while staying firmly within Ferrari’s promise of electrified evolution.

Powertrain Upgrades and Hybrid Boost

At the core of the 296 Speciale lineup lies a reworked 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 paired with a plug-in hybrid system. Total output is now 880 cv — 50 cv more than their standard versions. The engine alone delivers 700 cv, enhanced through titanium connecting rods, lighter crankshafts, reinforced pistons, and F1-style knock control.

Alongside this is a 180 cv electric motor that not only assists with acceleration but maintains torque during gear shifts, delivering sharper engagement and blistering pace. Both models reach 100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds.

Design additions include vertical fins, side wings, an integrated aero damper, and an active rear spoiler with three adjustable settings — Low, Medium, and High Downforce. These upgrades allow for improved high-speed stability and cornering grip.

Suspension, Braking and Driving Feel

Both models feature a new suspension layout using Multimatic adaptive dampers and a recalibrated geometry. This boosts lateral grip by 4% and cuts body roll by 13%. Braking has also seen improvements, thanks to cooling designs lifted from Ferrari’s F80 prototype.

The result is stronger stopping power even under extreme load. In every way, the 296 Speciale and Speciale A aim to feel like road-legal race cars — without losing day-to-day usability.

Speciale A: The Open-Top Alternative

The 296 Speciale A brings all the coupe’s performance into a convertible form with Ferrari’s retractable hardtop system. While it opens the car to the sky, it doesn’t sacrifice stiffness or balance. Aerodynamic tweaks specific to the spider version help keep cabin noise down and comfort up, even at high speeds with the roof lowered.
