BMW iX3 Prototype Unveiled: All-New Tech, Longer Range & Smart Driving

Abu Dhabi : BMW’s next-gen iX3, the first Neue Klasse EV, is almost ready for launch with longer range, smarter features, and advanced charging.

• BMW has started testing their iX3 prototype in France. Production is starting late 2025.
• They offer up to 800km range, 400kW fast charging, and new bidirectional charging features.

BMW’s highly anticipated iX3 is in its final testing phase in Miramas, France. This all-electric Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) is Neue Klasse's first production model and is set to debut at IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich. Production will start at BMW’s new Debrecen plant in Hungary later this year.

With the Neue Klasse, BMW is rolling out major updates in battery tech, vehicle controls, digital systems, and intelligent driving support.

More Power, Less Wait

The new 6th-generation powertrain gives the iX3 a major advantage. With 800V architecture, drivers will now enjoy high-speed charging and a range of up to 800km.

The My BMW App helps track charge performance in real-time. The iX3 also comes with an AI-powered charging flap that automatically opens when a known charger is close by.

In addition to rapid charging, the new BMW Wallbox offers up to 19.2kW of bidirectional charging. Users can power home appliances or even feed energy back into the grid. This helps support sustainability and also offers real utility in daily life.

Driving Joy, Redesigned

Neue Klasse has the “Heart of Joy,” at its core, which is a new superfast computing system that processes data 10 times faster. With the Dynamic Performance Control software, it sharpens handling, braking, and cornering.

This means there'll be intuitive driving without overuse of friction brakes. Recuperation alone will likely bring the vehicle to a stop 98% of the time.

The BMW iX3 merges precise control with refined ride quality in order to bring consistent, noise-free stopping and sharp steering.

AI-Powered Driver Assistance

BMW’s latest ADAS is smarter, safer, and symbiotic. The “Superbrain of Automated Driving” uses AI and rule-based systems to assist in complex driving. Features include:

• Lane change warning and safe exit alerts.
• Advanced Motorway & City Assistant.
• Assisted View in Panoramic or 3D display.
• Parking assistant with AI-supported space recognition.

The iX3’s assistance systems means drivers will be able to drive hand-free in certain highway conditions. It also offers smooth braking, even in tight city turns and roundabouts.
