2025 GMC Yukon debuts with upgraded diesel powertrain

ABU DHABI: For 2025, the GMC Yukon and Yukon XL have received a major overhaul, featuring larger displays, upgraded seating, a host of new amenities, and the largest wheels ever offered on a GMC. 

Like the Chevrolet Suburban and Cadillac Escalade, the revamped Yukon sports a redesigned rear and front fascia, giving the SUV a more commanding and aggressive presence on the road.

The 2025 GMC Yukon is now equipped with the Duramax diesel 3.0-litre inline-six across all trims, including the AT4 that was previously excluded. The updated engine enhances output from 277 hp and 624 Nm to 305 hp and 671 Nm. It is mated with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Despite its powerful engine, the 2025 GMC Yukon will be equipped with luxury upgrades, including first-ever second-row executive seating and new 24-inch wheels. These seats come with leather upholstery, 16-way power adjustment, and Bose speakers for enhanced sound.

GMC has also updated the lineup of Yukon, replacing the SLT and SLE trims with the new Elevation trim. The new AT4 Ultimate, Denali, AT4 and Denali Ultimate trims now top the range. The Denali Ultimate is the most luxurious variant with 24-inch wheels, laser-etched wood décor, and executive seating while the AT4 Ultimate comes with many off-road features with a skid plate, 20-inch all-terrain tyres, premium interior materials, and adjustable air suspension.

Every Yukon variant will have enhanced technology, including an 11-inch instrument display, a new 16.8-inch tablet-style infotainment screen, and an optional 8-inch touchscreen for second-row passengers. Additionally, the Yukon has introduced GMC’s first-ever night vision system that helps drivers detect hazards on dark roads.

The 2025 Yukon despite the added screens keeps physical buttons for various controls and air conditioning. It also comes with a sliding power centre console and a jackknife alert, and for hands-free rear access, it features a presence-based power liftgate.

GMC has not yet disclosed the 2025 Yukon’s pricing, but production is expected to start soon at their Arlington, Texas plant. It is expected to reach the customers by the end of 2024.
