2024 Lexus GX set to make debut on June 8

ABU DHABI: Lexus' passion for imaginative technology, brave design, and exhilarating performance is evident in its high-performance cars. It has transformed its SUV lineup over the years. But the Lexus GX is long overdue for a redesign. 

The current model dates back to 2009. Now, after 14 years, Lexus will pull the curtain off the third-gen GX three-row SUV on June 8 in Austin, Texas. This will definitely be a treat for off-roading enthusiasts as the GX is one of Lexus's oldest nameplates admired by off-roaders. 

The upcoming GX SUV will share some similarities with the 300 Series Toyota Land Cruiser. Close-up images of the upcoming GX's tail lights and triple-element headlights design suggest it will retain a rugged and boxy appearance and updated styling cues. The headlights sit beneath a sculpted hood complemented by wheel arches. Around the backside, the GX will have a full-width tail light with "Lexus" badging. 

The teaser images also throw light on some of the other exterior elements like raised windows, a line midway close to the rear doors, more pronounced wheel arches, a large clamshell bonnet, and triple-element headlamps. 

The SUV may ride on the same body-on-frame platform as the Toyota Tundra and Toyota Sequoia. That also might indicate it will only be available only with a hybrid V6 powertrain. Even if the upcoming GX SUV downsizes on the engine front, it may retain its serious off-road characteristics and body-on-frame construction. 

We expect that more specifics about the upcoming GX SUV will be revealed once it is released. Till then, we will have to wait to see what this three-row SUV holds for off-roading enthusiasts. We hope that the upcoming GX SUV will keep the charm of the current model.
