Karma Amaris

The Karma Amaris is a sporty two-door coupe powered by Karma Automotive's newest Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) system. It blends electric motors with a larger, turbocharged four-cylinder engine that works as a generator to boost driving distance. 

The car is built on a lightweight all-aluminium frame shared with the upcoming Gyesera four-door model. Its design catches the eye with "swan doors" that lift upward and a smooth, aerodynamic shape. Production is expected to start in 2026.

Price in UAE

The Karma Amaris price in the UAE will soon be made official. However, it is expected to be around AED 500,000.

Engine and Performance

The Karma Amaris engine setup is focused on a range extender that is said to be more powerful and advanced than current models. Karma hasn't shared all the details but said that the generator is now a bigger turbocharged inline-four from BMW. 

The current plug-in hybrid setup uses a smaller 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine from BMW. This unit powers a battery feeding two electric motors. These motors combine to produce 536 hp and 745 Nm of torque.

Karma hasn't announced exact figures, but it estimates the Amaris can go from 0 to 60 mph in around 3.5 seconds. The top speed is expected to be 165 mph. This is faster than the Gyesera electric supercar and the Revero sedan, both by a noticeable margin. The company hasn't given a range estimate for the plug-in hybrid version.

Safety

Details about safety features are not yet available. However, it is expected that the Amaris will come with multiple airbags and some form of advanced driving assistance.

Features and Specifications

No matter how new the platform, the Amaris is a stunning car. It has a low, flowing cabin, with smooth lines broken up by sharp edges on the bumpers and door fronts. The Karma Amaris exterior features distinctive swan doors that lift upward to make entry easier, though the interior has not been shown yet.

It sits on 22-inch forged aluminium wheels with a striking "Constellation" design. The body is made from a mix of carbon fibre and aluminium. Small details, like side-exit exhaust pipes just behind the doors, add extra flair.

The style draws from classic American sports cars, with wide arches, a long front nose, and a curvy Coke-bottle shape. The wheels are pushed deep into each corner, giving the car a broad stance. The body combines carbon fibre panels and aluminium parts, with an updated aluminium spaceframe chassis, similar to the Revero and the Gyesera EV.

Black rocker panels add texture, with a diamond dust pattern that angles forward and stretches toward the back wheels.
