SUVs have always been a hot pick in the global car market. Mitsubishi has just joined the party with its all-new 2026 Destinator SUV. This three-row family SUV, designed mainly for Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, is all about space, comfort, and versatility on the road.
The Destinator, which they officially unveiled in Indonesia, brings a new nameplate and identity, which is separate from known lineups from the brand, including Pajero and Outlander.
The Mitsubishi Destinator, which is built on a modified version of the Exforce platform, offers familiar tech and fresh design. It provides a unique option in the growing mid-size SUV segment.
Engine and Driving Comfort
Under the bonnet, the Destinator has a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine that delivers 161 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. There are no hybrid or electric aids. However, it is paired with a setup of CVT transmission and front-wheel drive.
The SUV, though lacking all-wheel drive, comes with five drive modes, a tuned suspension system, and generous ground clearance. This setup helps it tackle poor road conditions and heat, which are very common in target regions like the UAE.

Mitsubishi’s Destinator has a blend of the spirit of the concept car and toned-down production details. It keeps parts like the sharp LED headlights, strong body lines, and big front grille. However, it now has some more practical parts like the roof pillars and mirrors.
Interior Space and Features
The inside of the Destinator is more of comfort and practicality. It has seven seats across three rows, with clever storage areas throughout. The cargo space is tight when all seats are in use, but the second and third rows are folded, opening up the back for more load capacity.
The dashboard has a 12.3-inch infotainment screen and an 8-inch digital instrument cluster. However, these are set in a glossy plastic panel which may not appeal to every buyer. There are optional interior highlights like a Yamaha sound system, ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, and advanced driver aids under the ADAS package.
Market Launch and Production
The Destinator will publicly debut at the Jakindo International Motor Show on July 23, 2025. Sales will start the same day in Indonesia, with rollouts in Vietnam, the Philippines, and later into Latin America, South Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.
