Lexus RX Hybrid

The 2024 Lexus RX-Hybrid has the most luxurious and tech-rich cabin in its class. It starts with the single-touch electronic door handle. The cabin is largely black. That includes the black Alcantara seats with perforated leather inserts. Contrast stitching adds more visual appeal. The chic stitch pattern of the seats continues on to the doors. The car gets rich-looking ambient lights, and open-pore wood trim on the Platinum model. The F Sport Performance comes with heavily bolstered front seats, steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters, and aluminium pedals. The 2024 Lexus RX-Hybrid comes exclusively in a two-row, five-passenger avatar. Rear passengers get air vents and storage cubbies, along with USB ports. Moving the second-row is easy with a push of a button. A 9.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system dominates the dashboard. A larger 14.0-inch screen, navigation, a head-up display, and a Mark Levinson audio system are optional. A powered lift-gate reveals the cargo area. The dashboard looks neat and premium. 

The Lexus RX-Hybrid got a makeover in 2023. The car now sports a funky grille flanked by sleeker-looking headlights. The window-slash-C-pillar line looks great, along with the strong rear arches and a full-width light bar that stretches across the tucked-up rear. All these make the 2024 Lexus RX-Hybrid a handsome looking car. The 500h F Sport Performance model gets a subtle body kit. The new Lexus logo is stretched across the trunk lid to lend the car its character. The lower part of the bumper now comes with a smoother wave-style design that blends plastic and polished metal into one cohesive look. The car gets all-round LED lights.

The 2024 Lexus RX-Hybrid is mounted on the new GA-L platform. The suspension performs well on both smooth and rough surfaces but there’s a bit of side to side jostling. The seats have great back support and long rides are never uncomfortable. The second row has sufficient headroom and legroom. Even with the front seats pushed back, the rear-seat passengers are never short of space. Legroom for the middle passenger isn’t generous though. The air-conditioning cools the cabin pretty fast. The windows are large and make the car look more spacious. On the highway the 2024 Lexus RX-Hybrid offers a very balanced ride. The car isn’t meant for off-road adventures though the suspension manages to keep up with it.

The 2024 Lexus RX-Hybrid Performance trim is equipped with a naturally aspirated, four-cylinder, 2.5-litre petrol engine that produces 246 PS/316 Nm. The motor is mated to an eight-speed automatic. The 500h F Sport Performance trim gets a 2.4-litre petrol engine. Acceleration of the 2024 Lexus RX-Hybrid is quick. Power delivery is smooth and the transmission is seamless. Turning sharp corners is easy. The engine does get loud at times though the cabin has great noise insulation.    

The 2024 RX-Hybrid comes with the Lexus Safety System 3.0. The kit includes automatic emergency braking, road monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and lane keeping assist. The car even gets an optional collision monitoring system that warns about oncoming traffic. The system does get intrusive at times and can be turned off. The active safety integration works flawlessly and keeps the car composed in high-traffic situations.

With a starting price of AED 325,000, the 2024 Lexus RX-Hybrid is among the most expensive cars in its class. But it’s worthy of the price since it’s a premium product. Travelling comfort is excellent. The Platinum model can be fully charged with a 7kW home charger in about three hours. All these make the Lexus RX-Hybrid worthy of a buy.
