Top Reasons that make Toyota Hilux best available pickup
The Toyota Hilux will probably not need an introduction even in the remotest parts of the world. These trucks are the workhorses in the remotest parts of the world. Some cars develop cults. The Hilux has developed one as big as many countries combined, if not continents. For these people, this article might not seem very informative. They already know what they want and why they want it. For the rest of us, here are the top reasons why the Toyota Hilux is the best available pickup right now.
1) Extreme Utility
Currently, there are three engine options. A 2.0-litre petrol and another 2.7-litre petrol along with a 2.4-litre turbo diesel. Of these, the diesel would probably be the most preferred option here for the torque conscious and fuel efficiency seekers. This produces 400 Nm of torque at the range of 1600-2000 rpm. This gives it an impressive towing capacity of 3500 kg. This is on top of the deck with a capacity of 1055 kg. Anyone looking for good fuel mileage should go for the manual to achieve mileage figures of 17 kmpl. The mileage figure actually becomes a sore point as it is not the best in the segment. Yet the manual is still better as it is cheaper than the automatic.
2) Cabin Quality
The New Hilux is in a different league from its previous iterations when it comes to cabin quality and equipment levels. Toyota is looking to sell the new Hilux more as a lifestyle product than a tool. To increase its appeal, the cabin is now less noisy and more refined. The truck itself is much easier to drive despite its large dimensions. Where it does lag behind though is the ride quality, but that is not really a priority for the people who would be buying this truck.
The same people will also be surprised to find the equipment levels of their truck. There are controls on the steering wheel and audio with aux and Bluetooth. The middle of the range models can get you a 4.2-inch touchscreen infotainment and reversing camera. The safety equipment is very well distributed too. Braking is enhanced with ABS with EBD and added brake assist thanks to Toyota Safety suite. It also gets hill start assist, vehicle stability control, dual airbags for the driver along with knee airbags and trailer sway control. Added to these features is the new styling exercise that the Hilux has been exposed to. These features go a long way to allow the Hilux to compete with the ever growing and confusing competition in the segment.
3) Extensive model range
Utility oriented vehicles are known to be extremely customizable. The Hilux is no different. The Toyota Hilux range spans wide and deep. Across the three engine options, two transmissions, single cab and double cab options and 4X2 and 4X4 options, there are as many as 19 variants to choose from. These range from starting price of AED 77000 for the base variant to AED 147000 for the ultimate variant. While the competition is much more extensive today, these variant should be satisfactory for whatever their buyers intend to use them for.
4) Bulletproof
No matter which variant you buy, it will come with Toyota’s reputation of being absolutely bulletproof. These trucks have been traversing through dunes since time immemorial. Even after being loaded with many electronics, the Toyota should still have no problem holding on to its legacy. The reliability is now complemented by the inclusion of Toyota’s Safety sense that helps the Hilux achieve a 5 star NCAAP rating.
The Hilux of today is very different from what it used to be. Living up to that reputation while also trying to appeal to the newer customer base may seem too difficult. But, if any truck is likely to be up the task, it has to be the Hilux.
