GWM Wingle 5

The cabin of the 2024 GWM Wingle 5 is more on the practical side than the premium. There are no fancy things here. It's upholstered in black faux leather or fabric seats. The dashboard gets the same theme. A lot of hard plastics have been widely used in the cabin to keep production costs low. But the plastic merges well with the upholstery. The 2024 GWM Wingle 5 gets an analogue driver's information display, a plastic moulded gear shift level, glovebox, sun visor and a rearview mirror. There's manual air-conditioning with dashboard-mounted vents. The entry-level model gets a single-din audio system. The Luxury model gets a 4.0-inch infotainment screen. It supports radio, Bluetooth, and AUX ports. A four-speaker audio system is common to both models.

The 2024 GWM Wingle 5 boasts of sturdy body construction, putting doubts about the build quality of China-made vehicles. The front sports a wide grille that's flanked by halogen headlights and daytime running lights (DRLs). The GWM Wingle 5 also gets sharp-looking fog lights. The pickup runs on a 16-inch aluminium wheel covered in 235/70 tires. On the side, the Wingle 5 gets body-coloured side mirrors with turn indicators. The door gets black handles irrespective of the body colour. The rear end of the 2024 GWM Wingle 5 is simpler than the front. It gets halogen taillights, fog lights, and huge space for cargo. The pickup is more than five meters long with a wheelbase of 3,050mm. The higher Luxury model gets a rear steel bumper and side rubber mouldings on the doors. There's nothing very dramatic about the styling of the 2024 GWM Wingle 5. 

The cabin of the 2024 GWM Wingle 5 is big for its class. There's a lot of headroom and legroom on the seat. The seats have nice padding and offer good back support that makes long trips less tiring. The driver's seat isn't adjustable, but that doesn't impede finding a comfortable driving position. The suspension absorbs most of the bumps and thuds. Some of the harder ones are felt inside the cabin. A rattling sound also enters the cabin when the cargo area is empty. This is common among most single-cab pickup trucks. A fully loaded cargo compartment makes the suspension better damped. Travelling comfort offered by the 2024 GWM Wingle 5 is decent, nothing exceptional.  

The 2024 GWM Wingle 5 is hauled by a four-cylinder, 2.4-litre petrol engine that produces 134 PS/200 Nm. The motor is mated to a five-speed manual. The Wingle 5 is a workhorse and performs likewise. Acceleration is a bit delayed, like most pickup trucks. On urban roads, the pickup truck is an able performer. It wades through traffic nicely. The wide windscreen, aided by the car's high ground clearance, offers a commanding view of the road. The transmission is seamless. On the highway, the 2024 GWM Wingle 5 comes across as a very able performer.

The standard driver-assist features of the 2024 GWM Wingle 5 include two airbags, reverse parking sensors, an antilock braking system, electronic stability control, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and ventilated disk brakes. The safety system of the pickup is pretty basic.

The 2024 GWM Wingle 5 is a basic, no-frills pickup truck. It's practical but still manages to offer decent riding comfort. The cargo bay is huge and can accommodate camping equipment for a long weekend. The Wingle 5 could do with better equipment levels. But it's a value-for-money vehicle for those who want a pickup truck to deliver cargo and not much interested in fancy stuff.
