GWM Wingle 7

The cabin of the 2024 GWM Wingle 7 is a nice balance between functionality and premium bits. The seats are of leather and so are the rest of the upholstery. A lot of hard plastics have been used in the cabin to keep production costs under control. But it doesn't upset the look and feel. The 2024 GWM Wingle 7 gets a leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel, a centre armrest in the front with a cupholder, power windows, automatic climate control with rear vents, and a rearview mirror. The dashboard gets an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with four speakers. The display is crisp. The physical knobs are all ergonomically placed and easy to operate. 

The 2024 GWM Wingle 7 is a well-built, multipurpose, midsized pickup truck. It can be used as a trusted workhorse or lifestyle vehicle. The WIngle 7 sports a fairly large, hexagon-shaped front grille that's divided into two parts. The bottom part gets a wire mesh and fog lights. Unmistakable are the outsized front bumper and the different headlights with daytime running lights (DRLs). The car gets all-round LED lighting. On the sides, there are door handles, turn signals, and side mirrors. All these are body-coloured. The rear end of the 2024 GWM WIngle 7 is equally striking, with the taillights, spare tire, rear fog lights, exhaust system, and cargo bed access forging a perfect look. The pickup runs on 16-inch alloy wheels with 235/70 tires. The 2024 GWM Wingle 7 has a commanding road presence, courtesy of its size and the high ground clearance. 

The cabin of the 2024 GWM Wingle 7 is spacious. Both front sets get multi-level adjustment. The high ground clearance offers a great view of the road ahead. All seats are nicely padded and have great back support. Five persons can comfortably travel in the GWM Wingle 7 with lots of legroom and headroom. The ride quality is mostly unladen with the finely tuned suspension system that absorbs most of the bumps and thuds. Impact from some of the harder bumps are felt inside the cabin but that's not at a deal-breaking level. A loaded cargo bed offers a better ride. This is common to most pickups. 

The standard 2024 GWM Wingle 7 (4x2) is hauled by a turbocharged, four-cylinder, 2.4-litre petrol engine that produces 150 PS/220 Nm. The motor is mated to a five-speed manual. The pickup seems a bit underpowered at lower speeds. A six-speed transmission would obviously have been better. The steering is heavier than other rivals, but it's responsive. But the Wingle 7 will challenge anything thrown at it. Cruising on highways is rather easy because of the standard adaptive cruise control. On highways, the 2024 GWM Wingle 7 offers a very stable ride. But like most pickups, a lot of road noise enters the cabin.  

The standard driver-assist features of the 2024 GWM Wingle 7 includes rear camera, brake assist, tire pressure monitoring, electronic stability, reverse parking sensors and camera, front airbags, rear-door child safety lock, automatic emergency braking, and speed sensing lock. The Wingle 7 is pretty well-equipped with safety features. The tires have good bite and stops the vehicle instantly. 

The 2024 GWM Wingle 7 starts at AED 62,900, which is affordable compared to American and Japanese pickup trucks. It has a spacious cabin that offers a comfortable ride. Performance isn't out of the world, but the Wingle 7 is still a powerful performer. Long-term reliability still remains a question because GWM is a relatively new brand in the Emirates.
