Street-legal VUHL 05RR revealed at 2019 Race of Champions

The VUHL 05RR was revealed at the 2019 Race of Champions in Mexico City a couple of days ago. The company claims that it would offer the ultimate driving experience on the road and racetrack. Featuring a more aerodynamic body now, the road-legal 05RR comes with a new air intake setup, fixed rear wing, and exclusive body trims that’ll help to produce more downforce.

Based on the VUHL 05, the VUHL 05RR has shed off considerable weight. It tips the scales at 660 kg (dry weight) that makes it 65 kg lighter than the VUHL 05. Thanks to the use of lightweight components and carbon fibre throughout the car.

The technical director at VUHL, Iker Echeverria said, “The VUHL 05RR is here. More exciting, more engaging and faster than ever before, this car is a real milestone in our company’s development. We have been listening to feedback, done some learning and quietly developing and evolving our offering for a number of years. The result is truly remarkable, a car that is devoid of restraint and improvement in almost every area.”

Under the flesh, the VUHL 05RR houses a 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine sourced from Ford that has been tuned for enhanced power and torque outputs. The VUHL 05RR produces a max power of 384 PS and a peak torque of 600 Nm. This is an increase of 115 PS and 100 Nm over the Ford’s EcoBoost stock specifications.

The engine comes mated to a new sequential paddle-shift transmission that powers the rear wheels of the car. For comparison, the engine fitted on the VUHL 05 generates 289 PS and 500 Nm of power and torque respectively.

The VUHL 05RR comes with an improved power-to-weight ratio of 600 hp/ton, making the track car touch the top speed of 255 Kmph and sprint to 97 kmph in just 2.7 seconds.
