Rolls-Royce enters into the super-premium SUV segment with its latest Cullinan

ABU DHABI: The name Cullinan gets its origin from the name of the biggest diamond that was found and it became a part of the Royal Crown Jewels in the UK. The Cullinan is an all-terrain, high clearance premium SUV from Rolls-Royce.

CEO of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, Torsten Muller-Otvoss said," We knew we had to offer our clients what they couldn't find in the SUV market. They do not accept limitations or compromises in their lives. They are the new pioneers, and for them, it's about their sense of adventure and daring in how they live their experiences. This approach to life demands a motor car that can go-anywhere in ultimate luxury and style – Rolls-Royce style. Hence Cullinan.”

Rolls-Royce has beautifully designed the Cullinan to house a long hood and a short deck, unlike other SUVs. The front of the car holds the official ‘pantheon’ grille finished in stainless steel.

The Cullinan gets ‘eye-brow' shaped LED headlights that give the car its unique face. With all the elements combine, the Cullinan gets an attractive posture.

The Cullinan has a maximum wading depth of 540mm, all thanks to the giant 22” alloy hills and it is the highest in its class.

The Cullinan also features coach doors, something that Rolls-Royce is cherished for. In addition to that, there is an amazingly designed rear that slides down to meet the tailgate and taillights.

Now peeping under the hood, there is the Rolls-Royce’s very own 6.75-litre twin-turbo V12 engine. The 12-cylinder engine produces a 563 PS of maximum power and 850 Nm of peak torque. The top speed of the Cullinan is clocked at 250 kmph.

The chassis also termed as the ‘Architecture of Luxury’ is an all-aluminum framing, similar to what was seen on the Rolls-Royce Phantom. It also features a Self-leveling air suspension with options like the off-road mode that is able to push down the wheel in case of traction.

We can expect the Rolls-Royce Cullinan to arrive at the UAE by the first quarter of 2019. In the worldwide market, the Cullinan is priced at USD 325,000 (around  11,93,790 Dirham)
