Rolls Royce Spectre

Cabin

The driving position is low for a Rolls-Royce, closer to a traditional coupé than to the Ghost or Cullinan, with seating for four rather than five given the two-door layout. The leather trim and metal detailing are finished to the same standard as the rest of the range, with the cabin’s general hush amplified further by the complete absence of engine noise.

The infotainment system can be operated by touch, voice, or a traditional rotary controller, offering a choice depending on how owners prefer to interact with the car. A high-quality audio system is available, tuned specifically to suit a cabin with none of the engine or exhaust noise that shapes audio tuning in a petrol Rolls-Royce.

The Starlight headliner, previously confined to the roof lining on other Rolls-Royce models, extends onto the door panels here, using thousands of fiber-optic points to recreate a night sky across a wider span of the cabin. The heated, ventilated, and massaging front seats come on well-equipped cars, alongside a heated steering wheel finished in leather.

Front Seat

• Electrically adjustable with memory function
• Heated, ventilated, and massage functions available
• Leather-wrapped, heated steering wheel
• Low-set driving position closer to a coupe than a saloon

Rear Seat

Access to the rear is entirely through the long, rear-hinged coach doors, which open wide but demand more room around the car than a conventional four-door layout would. Once inside, rear passengers get individual seats rather than a bench, continuing the Starlight headliner treatment overhead, though outright space trails the Ghost, given the Spectre’s lower, more sharply raked roofline.

Climate Control

The automatic climate control with air quality monitoring comes as standard, drawing power from the same battery that drives the car, a detail electric-vehicle owners in a hot climate quickly learn to factor into how they think about range. Rolls-Royce fits the system to precondition the cabin while the car is still plugged in, letting owners step into a cooled interior without drawing down the battery to do it.

Storage

Boot space is 380 liters, the smallest in the current Rolls-Royce range, a consequence of the two-door coupé body style rather than anything specific to the electric powertrain. It remains enough for a couple of soft bags or a small set of luggage, though buyers who need to carry more should look toward the Ghost or Cullinan instead.

Battery and Charging

• 102 kWh liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery pack
• Combined output of up to 659 hp on the Black Badge variant
• Range of up to 520km on the standard EV variant
• 80% charge achievable in around 20 minutes on a compatible DC fast charger
• Larger 23-inch wheels reduce real-world range compared with the standard wheel option

The Spectre’s charging performance is competitive for a battery this size, though most Spectre owners in the UAE will use the car for shorter outings rather than long-distance touring, making home charging the more realistic daily habit. The two motors, one per axle, give the Spectre all-wheel drive as standard, chosen for both traction and the instant, composed response Rolls-Royce wanted from its first electric model.

• Driver, passenger, and driver's knee airbags
• Anti-lock braking system with electronic brake-force distribution
• Automatic emergency braking and forward collision warning
• Lane departure warning and blind spot warning
• 360-degree camera and around-view monitor
• Hill hold assist and rear cross-traffic alert

The Spectre is built on an aluminum space frame designed to house the battery low on the floor, which also lowers the car’s center of gravity compared with a petrol Rolls-Royce. The driver-assistance equipment depends on the chosen specification, since the fuller suite, including the 360-degree camera, can vary according to configuration.

Front

A version of the Pantheon grille carries over, though reshaped and sealed to work with the Spectre’s electric powertrain rather than feed air to a combustion engine. The slim, split headlights sit low and wide, and the Spirit of Ecstasy figurine, redesigned slightly for this car, has a more aerodynamic profile than on many other Rolls-Royce models, a detail that matters more here given how directly the coupé’s drag figures affect its real-world range.

Side Profile

The longest doors ever fitted to a production Rolls-Royce open from the rear, coach-style, and stretch further along the body than on the Ghost or Phantom, a dimension made possible by the packaging freedom that comes with the electric powertrain. A low, fastback roofline runs from the windscreen to the tail, giving the Spectre a properly sporting silhouette that stands apart from the more upright saloons and SUVs elsewhere in the range.

Alloy Wheels

Standard cars get smaller wheels tuned to maximize range, while a 23-inch design is available for buyers who prefer stance over the last few kilometers of driving distance. Rolls-Royce is upfront that the larger wheels can trade away some range, a plain acknowledgement of the physics involved rather than a detail buried in the fine print.

Rear

The full-width taillights and a subtly raised boot lip give the rear a cleaner, less ornamented look than the rest of the current range, in keeping with a car built to feel closer to a grand tourer than a formal saloon. The twin exhaust outlets are, naturally, absent, replaced by a smooth rear diffuser section that plays its own small part in the car’s aerodynamic efficiency.

Colors

Yellow and Blue are the two photographed colors for the Spectre, a striking contrast to the more traditional shades seen on the Ghost and Phantom listings, and one that suits a car Rolls-Royce has positioned as its most modern statement. Anyone ordering through the Dubai or Abu Dhabi showroom has access to the full Bespoke palette, including two-tone finishes that split along the car’s long, low waistline.

Unlike the V12 in every other current Rolls-Royce, the Spectre’s electric motors deliver their torque from a standing start, with no gears to shift through and no turbo lag to wait out.

Rolls-Royce tuned the throttle response deliberately to avoid feeling harsh or sudden, aiming instead for the same effortless, wave-like build of speed the brand’s petrol cars are known for, just achieved through an entirely different kind of engineering.

City Performance

For city drives, the Spectre’s total silence at low speed makes it stand out even among other Rolls-Royce models, gliding away from a signal without the mechanical presence that a V12 typically has. The coach doors need more care in tighter multi-storey car parks than a conventional four-door would, and the low, coupé-like roofline limits rear visibility compared with the Ghost or Cullinan.

Highway Performance

On the UAE’s longer highways, the Spectre’s aerodynamic shape, among the most efficient Rolls-Royce has ever built, pays off in how far the battery stretches at a steady cruise. The cabin noise stays remarkably low even at high speeds, helped by the absence of engine noise and acoustic glass throughout, a true hallmark of the brand. The instant response from both motors means overtaking never needs a downshift; the car simply gathers speed the moment the accelerator is pressed.

Ride and Handling

Like the rest of the cars from the brand, the Planar suspension works alongside all-wheel steering to keep the Spectre composed over UAE roads that shift quickly between smooth new tarmac and older, patched surfaces. The battery’s low, central position gives the Spectre a noticeably flatter, more settled feel through faster corners than the taller Cullinan, closer in character to a grand tourer than to a traditional Rolls-Royce saloon. Rolls-Royce specifically developed the Spectre’s Planar suspension to work with its four-wheel steering and multiple sensors to maintain stability and comfort.

It remains tuned first for comfort, but the lower center of gravity means it carries that comfort through corners with less roll than many of the taller Rolls-Royce models currently on sale, which makes this special for most owners and worth considering if you prefer such a driving experience.

The Rolls-Royce Spectre is offered in different specifications depending on market, with the standard Spectre and the more powerful Black Badge Spectre forming the core range. The newer Black Badge Spectre Series II is now officially positioned as the most powerful Rolls-Royce ever built.

Standard Spectre

The original Spectre uses a twin-motor electric powertrain producing around 430 kW and 900 Nm, with a claimed WLTP range of around 520 km. It combines the same two-door coupé body with Rolls-Royce’s traditional focus on silence, comfort, and effortless acceleration. Series II updates bring a larger 112.4 kWh battery and up to 628 km range.

Black Badge Spectre

This is the more powerful and assertive version, with increased motor output and a stronger performance focus. The Black Badge treatment brings darker exterior detailing, more aggressive styling, and a sharper driving character while retaining the same basic electric architecture. Series II Black Badge pushes output to around 670–680 hp with up to 1,100 Nm in Spirited mode.

Black Badge Spectre Series II

This is the latest evolution, with a more powerful setup that makes it the most powerful Rolls-Royce ever built. Official Rolls-Royce data lists a WLTP range of around 578–629 km for the Series II Black Badge, depending on specification and wheels.

The Spectre changes what a Rolls-Royce is built around without changing what a Rolls-Royce feels like. This must be stated clearly at the start, because that is what the brand is all about: nothing quite like it. The silence that used to come from a beautifully isolated V12 now comes from having no engine at all, and the effortless way it gathers speed feels like a natural continuation of what this brand has always aimed for, not a departure from it.

As the first series-production electric Rolls-Royce, it carries real weight for the brand’s future direction. It asks more of an owner than a petrol Rolls-Royce does, mainly around charging habits and a smaller boot that comes with the two-door body style. But as a statement of where Rolls-Royce is headed, and as a car that still feels unmistakably like a Rolls-Royce, the Spectre impresses from the moment the door swings open.
