Porsche unveils its fastest model yet, the 2024 Taycan Turbo GT

ABU DHABI: Following the fully electric Macan’s release in January, Porsche is dedicated to expanding its electric vehicle lineup, with the Taycan getting tons of upgrades last month. The automaker has unveiled the all-new Taycan Turbo GT, the brand’s fastest mass-produced car that sets a new benchmark in electric vehicle performance. It boasts an over 1,000 horsepower electric engine.

    Before its debut, the Taycan Turbo GT with the Weissach Package grabbed the title of the 'fastest electric series-production car' with a lap time of 1:27.87 at the Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca in California. 

    At the Nürburgring Nordschleife, the new Taycan set a world record lap time of 7:07.55. It surpassed the previous lap time record by 26 seconds. Its outstanding performance highlights the dominance of Porsche in both cornering capabilities and acceleration on this challenging track.

    The credit for these achievements goes to the upgraded drivetrain that comes with a very powerful motor with launch control that boosts power to 1033 PS and can deploy an over-boost of 1,108 PS for 2 seconds. 

    Porsche's Taycan Turbo GT takes 2.3 seconds to accelerate to 62 mph (100 kmph). It is one-tenth quicker than the Turbo S, and with the Weissach pack drops to 2.1 seconds. It takes 6.6 seconds to reach 124 mph (200 kmph), or with the Weissach pack, it takes 6.4 seconds, outpacing the Turbo S by around 1.3 seconds.

    The new Turbo GT and Porsche Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach Package can now be ordered, with the first models expected to arrive during the upcoming summer season at US dealerships.
