Kia Telluride is out completely undisguised form

ABU DHABI: Kia Telluride is out in a completely undisguised form. It is a crossover with boxy styling and robust character capable of rivalling full-size SUVs like the Toyota Land Cruiser, Ford Expedition and Chevrolet Tahoe. Kia has revealed all major details except the technical specifications of the Telluride.

The Telluride is larger than the Kia Sorento and justifies styling of the Telluride concept shown a few years ago. On the outside, the Telluride gets a wide grille appearance, squared-off headlamps and fog lamps with vertical chrome garnishing. Moreover, it comes equipped with a brush guard, nudge bar and sturdy all-terrain tyres that give it a husky look.

 

Additionally, there are large windows, broad shoulder line, a side-mounted step ladder and a snorkel that make it look bigger than its actual dimensions. The toughness is accounted for by the cladding that covers the lower half of the body. The tail section gets inverted ‘L’ tail lamps and position for a spare tyre.

The road-ready version of the Telluride has lost the coach doors and split tailgate previously seen on the concept. Though the Telluride looks extremely brawny with all the accessories it gets, the chances of it being rolled out with all those equipment are not very promising. It is rather a way of showing how a crossover can be treated to look bolder and manly.

The cabin is designed to offer comfort and luxury. The combination of leather and wood makes it even more appealing from the inside. The top of the dash is covered with Saddle Brown leather, which can also be seen on the steering wheel’s horn pad, while the front fascia of the dashboard and doors get Ash Wood finishes. At the centre, it boasts a floating touchscreen infotainment system for entertainment and navigation needs.

Kia was tight-lipped sharing the Telluride’s technical specifications. However, in the past, they had shared that it’ll be getting a V6 power unit. We expect it to underpin either a 3.8-litre naturally-aspirated engine with 303 PS of max power or a 3.3-litre twin-turbo that produces a max power of 365 PS.
