Chery Rely R08 Launches in UAE – New Budget-Friendly Pickup With Strong Capability

Abu Dhabi: The Chery Rely R08 pickup truck has officially launched in the United Arab Emirates. At the starting price of just 62,895 AED (about $17,125) including VAT, it brings a compelling set of features to the mid-size pickup segment. The Rely R08 mid-size pickup truck is distributed in partnership with Al Ghurair Mobility in the UAE and is now available at the Rely showroom in Dubai. With aggressive pricing, Chery is looking to undercut well-established competitors or even new Chinese SUVs with a generous payload of around 1000 kg and modern features in higher trims without paying a premium price. 

Chery Rely R08 Bold and Practical Design

The UAE-spec Rely R08 is 5370 mm long, 1960 mm wide, and 1880 mm tall, with a 3230 mm wheelbase, making it slightly larger than other rivals. It features a big fuel tank of 80 litres, making it easy to cover long distances without worrying about refuelling. The front-end looks very distinctive with arge-block headlamps, a more compact grille, and a robust bumper giving it a tough look. Built tough on a body-on-frame chassis, it can easily handle heavy-duty tasks.

Chery Rely R08 Engine Choices with Petrol and Diesel Options

The R08 is offered with two main powertrain options with petrol and diesel configurations to suit different needs:

• Petrol Engine: Powered by the 2.4-litre naturally aspirated petrol unit that produces a power of 158 hp and torque of 230 Nm. With the 5-speed manual transmission and standard rear-wheel drive it available in the it is available as the entry-level variant of the Rely R08 pickup truck.
  
  
• Diesel Engine: Featuring a 2.3-litre turbo diesel from Dongfeng that delivers a power of 161 hp and torque of 420 Nm. it is paired with the 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic gearbox, and offered in both RWD and 4WD layouts.

Both of these engine options provide a balance of performance, efficiency, and reliability for the UAE's hot climate and varied driving conditions.

Interior, Tech, and Features in the Chery Rely R08

The cabin is kept simple with a focus on functionality, and the higher trims offer a touch of premium features and upgrades:

• Entry-level models include cloth seats, manual adjustments, rear parking sensors, air conditioning, dual front airbags, and basic audio.
• Higher trims (like the Diesel Limited Edition) come with the upgraded interior and a good set of features such as a massive 15.6-inch touchscreen, wireless charging, surround-view cameras, and an ADAS safety suite. They come with added enhanced convenience and protection for all the occupants.

How Safe and Reliable is the Chery Rely R08

Even at this price, it does not lag in terms of safety and reliability. With Standard dual front airbags and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) available on select variants, it ensures all-around protection for all occupants. 5-year or 200,000 km warranty (whichever comes first) and service intervals of 10,000 km or 6 months at authorized centers add an extra layer of protection and security if anything goes wrong.

The Rely R08 is on sale now in the UAE at competitive prices (inclusive of 5% VAT):

• Entry-level Petrol (RWD): AED 62,895 (~USD 17,125)
• Diesel Limited Edition (with 4WD, premium features): AED 94,395 (~USD 25,700)

It offers great value in respect to price when compared to the Toyota Hilux double-cab 4WD, which goes for around AED 115,000 (~USD 31,300) or other competitors.
