2025 BYD Seal 06 GT performance hatchback debuts with RWD/AWD options

ABU DHABI: BYD has revealed the first official images of the Seal 06 GT ahead of its full unveiling on Friday, 30 August 2024. This electric hot hatch has been positioned between the Dolphin and Seal sedan in the lineup of BYD.

As per the information provided by the China Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the BYD Seal 06 GT will be available with two powertrain options: all-wheel drive (AWD) that comes with a dual-motor setup and produces a combined 421 hp and rear-wheel drive (RWD) that comes with a single motor and generates around 218 hp.

While the Seal 06 GT’s acceleration figures haven't been revealed, it's anticipated to be similar to the 390kW Seal Performance edition having a 0-100 kmph time of 3.8 seconds.

The Seal 06 GT’s production version features a more subdued design as compared to the bold look of the Ocean-M concept. It maintains elements like full-width tail lights, notched headlights, and flush door handles, but its overall style has become more refined.

Inside, the Seal 06 GT has an organic, modern design with a spacious layout. The cabin comes with a central touchscreen, a prominent digital instrument cluster, and a dual-layer centre console having a circular control arrangement.

The Seal 06 GT will definitely impress driving enthusiasts with its premium interior and performance-focused design. In China, its pricing is estimated to be between ¥150,000-103,000 (approximately AED 77,000-100,000) in comparison to the Seal at ¥179,800 (AED 92,601) and Dolphin at ¥99,800 (AED 51,399).
