2019 Kia Sportage unveiled, gets a mild hybrid mill

ABU DHABI: Kia Motors, earlier today took the wraps off the 2019 Sportage, a car that was making headlines for its advanced hybrid diesel engine. With the new Sportage, Kia now officially is the part of the elite auto group representing the go-green circle.

The major highlight of the all-new Sportage facelift is its engine tuning, however, there's one on offer. The exterior design philosophy and cabin feature also kit benefited from the revision cycle. Moving on, the technical and safety profile are updated for the all-new Sportage.

Giving you a better brief of the 2019 Kia Sportage, here is a segment-wise description of the inclusions, starting with the exterior -

Outer design language has been revised, and it makes the Sportage look sleeker and sharper than before. Kia has given the crossover a new front and rear bumper along with a restyled headlight and tail light design. The 2019 Sportage comes decorated with a new set of alloy wheels, metallic skid plate on the bumper, new trapezoidal air vents, and ‘ice-cube’ fog lamps.

The range-topping, Sportage GT Line variant gets additional design updates that defer it from rest of the Sportage lineup. In its design kit are included gloss black radiator grille, new 19-inch alloy wheels, dark chrome inserts on side sills and tailgate.

The cabin is revised making sure that the driver and occupants enjoy every part of their commute in the new Sportage. The centre console gets an advanced infotainment system, while the driver's arena gets a revised instrument cluster. All the trims below the GT line benefit from a new black and grey dual upholstery, however, the range-topping variant get black leather wrapping with red stitching.

The 2019 Sportage biggest highlight rests under its hood, in the form of a 2.0-litre EcoDynamic+ 48-volt mild hybrid turbo diesel engine. This new mill claims to cut down Sportage CO2 emission by 4 percent and is a proud gem of Kia’s global powertrain electrification strategy.

In addition to the celebrated mid-hybrid mill, Kia has also introduced a new 1.6-litre diesel engine that replaces the ongoing 1.7-litre motor. According to Kia, this new mill is the cleanest diesel engine it has offered till date. The Sportage will be tuned with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission that’ll send power to all four wheels.

The 2019 Kia Sportage will first go on sale in Europe and post that it’ll debut in Asian and Middle East countries. So, the UAE crowd is required to be a little more patient and enjoy the new Sportage in pictures.
