The Smart variant gets 17-inch alloy wheels, which are appropriately sized and do not look undersized against the body. The Comfort Plus and Premium Plus variants step up to 18-inch and 19-inch alloys, respectively, and the visual difference is clear.

The Rear

The 7-speed reacts fast, and overtaking at highway speeds with the 1.6T requires a quick but confident press of the accelerator. The Smart's 2.0L is less urgent at those speeds but remains composed on straight, open roads.

Ride and Handling

The Tucson is on a unibody platform, which gives it a different character from a ladder-frame SUV. The ride is smooth and well-controlled, absorbing the typical UAE road conditions, including expansion joints and the occasional rough patch around older parts of Sharjah, without fuss. Body roll in corners is well-managed for a crossover of this height. The steering is accurate and nicely weighted without being overly responsive, which suits the kind of driving most Tucson owners will actually do.

The Comfort Plus at AED 121,999 is the variant that earns our recommendation for most UAE buyers. The reason is straightforward: it gives you the 1.6T turbo engine, the dual 10.25-inch screen setup, wireless charging, Auto Hold, power seats, and the safety suite that makes daily driving on UAE roads genuinely safer. You do not feel like you are missing the essential Tucson experience, and you do not pay the Premium Plus premium to get there. But if your annual mileage is high and you spend a lot of time in city traffic, the Hybrid Smart at the same price as the Comfort Plus is a genuine alternative worth considering.

The Tucson is an easy choice for anyone looking for a stylish, sensible SUV that fits everyday life without trying too hard. Undoubtedly, it feels modern, has a good cabin, and does the basics well.
