Genesis EV G 80

Genesis has always impressed with its cabin and the EV G80 is no different. The cabin is high-end with a posh feel, courtesy of the genuine wood that actually feels real and sumptuous leather. Soft-touch materials are almost everywhere. Hard plastics have been kept to a minimum. The cabin is traditionally luxurious and may not be liked by those who prefer a technical or more clinical style. A 14.5-inch touchscreen infotainment unit sits on top of the dashboard. There's an 8.0-inch display behind the multifunction, two-spoke steering wheel. Both units offer crisp graphics. The controls are easily reachable. The three-zone automatic climate control unit is separated from the main touchscreen. 

The 2024 Genesis EV G80 sports a distinctive design. The massive, chromed crosshatch of the car's schnoz is impossible to miss even in cramped parking lots. It makes a strong style statement. The car is almost identical to the regular Genesis G80 but instead of an open grille, the EV gets a closed-off front. The diamond pattern design houses the charging port. The headlights are sort of sandwiched in a pair of slits that look slender. The air intakes of the regular G80 have been mostly filled in the EV to become air curtains that channel the air along the car's side. The rear bumper has naturally lost the exhaust finishers. The 2024 Genesis EV G80's rear part is somewhat tame compared to the nose. The rest of the exterior, in fact, is mild. The car runs on massive 19-inch wheels covered in Michelin Primacy Tour A/S tires.  

Squeezing the battery pack into the 2024 Genesis EV G80 has led to a few changes inside the cabin. The headroom is slightly reduced in both front and rear seats. Taller riders would notice the headliner a bit too close to the top of their head. But there's still enough legroom and headroom on all seats. The seats are plush and come with lumbar support that reduces long-distance travel fatigue. The driver's seat has enough adjustment to match the seating position with the steering wheel. The rear seat comes with decent under-thigh support because the front seats can be far-set. The electronic suspension scans the road in front to change the stiffness. But the car does feel a bit sharp over the hard bumps because the suspension system has been beefed up to support the extra weight of batteries. The cabin is stunningly silent. Overall, the 2024 Genesis EV G80 offers comfortable travel.  

The 2024 Genesis EV G80 is equipped with two permanent magnet motors that produce a combined output of 365 PS/700 Nm. The motors are powered by a liquid-cooled 87.2 kWh lithium-ion battery. The car comes with a 10.9 kW onboard charger. The Genesis EV G80 is quite a long car. Though it has a pretty nice turning radius, one needs to be careful while negotiating sharp curves. Highway drive-assist comes as standard and that includes adaptive cruise control and steering assist. Highway driving is smooth and nicely balanced

The 2024 Genesis EV G80 gets all-round cameras that eliminate almost all blind spots. But rear visibility could have been better, as the window is narrow. The car comes with automated emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and other advanced features. The EV G80 comes with Smart Park that allows the driver to manoeuvre the car in and out of a tight parking space, sans actually operating the controls

The 2024 Genesis EV G80 is one of the most expensive cars in its segment. Long-term reliability and battery longevity are doubtful as these are still the early days of EVs. But the Genesis EV G80 makes for a super-comfortable executive sedan for buyers willing to invest in it.
