Geely Okavango

Cabin

The Okavango cabin is definitely premium for its price, and it all starts with a 12.3-inch HD central touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto that is positioned in the middle of the dashboard. A digital driver information display provides speed, navigation, and vehicle data behind the steering wheel. The ambient interior lighting runs across the dashboard and door cards. A tan leather upholstery option gives warmth to a cabin that is wide, tall, and practical in its layout. The gear lever uses an obsidian leather-wrapped design that Geely calls a "luxury gear lever," a small but considered cabin detail that elevates the tactile experience of the central console.

The 2-3-2 layout has all seven seats independently adjustable; second-row seats slide and recline independently, which allows the space balance between rows two and three to be tuned for the specific passenger load on each journey. Very few 7-seaters in the UAE at this price offer this level of second-row flexibility.

Front Seat

The GK comes with a height-adjustable driver seat with manual controls. The GF has a 6-way power-adjustable driver seat with a memory function and ventilation. Both variants use leather upholstery. The ventilated front seats on the GF are a UAE summer essential; the difference between ventilated and non-ventilated leather seats is felt immediately. The 6-way power driver seat with memory on the GF is particularly useful if you are sharing the car with a family member, as the seat returns to the saved position at the press of a button.

Electronic Parking Brake

The Okavango has an electronic parking brake with Auto Hold standard across both variants, with no trim restriction.

Rear Seat

The 2,825 mm wheelbase makes the car quite spacious across all three rows. Second-row passengers have the best seat in the car; the independently sliding and reclining second-row seats can push rearward to give exceptional legroom or slide forward to free third-row space. Geely claims best-in-class third-row legroom, providing genuine adult usability for shorter journeys and comfortable access for children on longer trips.

AC Vents

The Okavango's climate system is specifically configured for the UAE's multi-row family use:

• Dual-zone automatic air conditioning is standard on both variants
• Second-row dedicated AC vents are standard
• Third-row AC vents are standard
• Panoramic sunroof with UV-filtering glass on the GF

Storage Options

The Okavango manages storage across all three rows with a focus on family practicality:

• There are about 32 individual seat configurations, meaning storage and access needs can match: full 7-seat mode, second-row-only with a large rear cargo floor, or a split configuration for mixed passenger-cargo use.
• Cup holders at all three rows are standard; no rear row is left without drink placement.
• Front door pockets, rear door pockets, and center console storage cover daily carry items across all occupant positions.
• Roof rails are standard for external cargo options, including roof boxes for Hatta mountain weekends.

Armrest

The center front armrest is standard across both variants. Rear second-row passengers have a fold-down center armrest from the seatback with integrated cup holders, standard on both variants. The third row does not have a dedicated armrest provision, which is standard across the segment at this price.

Charging Options

• Apple CarPlay is standard on both variants via the 12.3-inch touchscreen, with full iOS integration for navigation, calls, and music; it's essential for UAE daily driving, where Waze or Google Maps is the navigation tool most buyers use.
• Android Auto is standard on both variants alongside Apple CarPlay
• Wireless charging standard on the GF only
• USB ports for front and rear passengers are standard throughout for device charging.
• Bluetooth with multifunction steering wheel controls are standard across the range

Boot Space

438 liters with all three rows in use, expanding as rows are folded to 2,360 liters in full flat mode with a 2.2-meter rear floor length. For a 7-seat family SUV, 438 liters with all seats occupied is the segment-standard figure for daily family use. No powered tailgate on either variant; the boot operates via the key fob or interior release button.

The Okavango's safety specification is good and adequate for the price.

• Six airbags are standard on both variants: driver, passenger, and side curtain coverage for all rows; the full six-airbag setup is standard from the base.
• ABS with EBD and Brake Assist are standard on both variants.
• Vehicle stability control and traction control are standard throughout, maintaining directional stability and preventing wheelspin under hard braking or grip loss; they are relevant for the painted roundabout surfaces in Dubai and Abu Dhabi after light rain.
• Hill Start Assist and Hill Descent Control are standard on both variants, preventing rollback on inclines and managing controlled descent on steep roads; Hill Descent Control is relevant for families using the Okavango for Hatta weekend trips.
• Electronic Parking Brake with Auto Hold is standard on both variants.
• 360-degree camera system is standard on both variants
• Rear parking sensors are standard throughout
• Blind Spot Detection is standard and alerts to vehicles in adjacent lanes during lane changes; it's relevant on the multi-lane Sheikh Zayed Road and the E311 morning commute.
• Rear Collision Alert is standard and warns of vehicles approaching from behind during low-speed reversing.
• TPMS standard on both variants
• The real gap: no Adaptive Cruise Control, no Automatic Emergency Braking, and no Lane Keeping Assist in either variant; these are active safety omissions that competing vehicles at this price from some Chinese rivals do provide. Buyers who commute long distances on UAE motorways regularly and value AEB and ACC as daily safety tools should weigh this against Okavango's stronger passive safety specification.

The front features Geely's "Icefall Grille," a wide, layered chrome horizontal stripe design that fills the front fascia with visual weight and presence. The Stone Array LED headlights flank the grille on both sides with a crisp, geometric light graphic. The LED DRLs and automatic headlamps with intelligent high beams are standard. The bonnet rises slightly at the center, reinforcing the forward presence. At 1,910 mm wide, the Okavango is a large car, and the front design uses that width without apology. The chrome grille and LED headlight combination read as a proper family flagship, not an entry-level seven-seater trying to punch upward.

Side

The side profile features a clean character crease from the front fender through the doors to the rear quarter panel. The body cladding runs along the lower sill and wheel arch extensions, giving the car an SUV-appropriate planted appearance at road level. The roof rails are standard across both variants, and chrome window surrounds and body-colored mirror caps are consistent with the premium-adjacent positioning. The floating roof design, visible between the chrome roof line and the panoramic sunroof glass on the GF, is a visual detail that makes the car look pricier than it is.

Alloy Wheels

Both variants are offered with 19-inch Vortex-design alloy wheels. The wide-spoke Vortex alloy design complements the Okavango's wide, planted stance.

Rear

The Okavango’s rear features seamless, continuous LED taillights that run across the full width of the tailgate glass, creating a clean, modern light bar graphic at night. A rear spoiler sits above the tailgate, with dual exhaust outlets at the lower rear bumper. A rear window wiper is standard throughout the range, a practical and often overlooked feature on a tall-bodied 7-seat SUV that accumulates dust and grime on the rear glass in UAE conditions faster than shorter cars do.

City Performance

The powertrain comprising a 2.0TD with 325 Nm from 2,000 rpm gives the Okavango confident and composed driving dynamics in city driving:

• When you are dealing with congestion in the city, the 7DCT delivers clean gear changes, and the car pulls away from stops without hesitation even with a full seven-seat passenger load.
• The Comfort mode keeps power delivery smooth for passenger comfort; Sport mode sharpens throttle response for more decisive moves in fast-moving city traffic on Sheikh Zayed Road.
• Note that the 4,860 mm length and 1,910 mm width mean using the 360-degree camera fully in basement parking and narrow residential lane navigation; plan for it rather than discovering it, always.

Highway Performance

• For a big SUV, it feels quite in control at highway speeds; it quickly stabilizes and becomes pleasant at high speeds.
• Even if you are going at a reasonable speed and wish to overtake, it won’t be a big problem due to being accomplished with a firm press and reasonable planning. There is enough capability that gives you on-road confidence for UAE highway overtakes without requiring the long approach windows that underpowered alternatives need. The sport mode holds gears longer and makes the overtaking experience noticeably more decisive on dual-carriageway sections.
• The big missing piece for your highway drive is the absence of adaptive cruise control on both variants, which is felt most clearly on long motorway stretches. The standard cruise control maintains speed but does not manage the following gap automatically. On the daily Abu Dhabi to Dubai E11 return, this means the driver manages the gap and speed manually throughout. It is the comfort gap that owners notice most after the first few weeks of ownership.

Ride and Handling

• The Okavango has a suspension setup tuned entirely for comfort, which is the only correct calibration for a 7-seat family SUV that will carry children, grandparents, and varying passenger configurations across UAE urban and motorway roads.
• Speed bumps and the occasional rough patch are mostly tackled well by the car, and you get the feeling of driving comfortably. Moreover, the car absorbs the shocks from rough roads without subjecting the cabin to harshness.
• You may feel body roll in lane changes, but at 1,770 mm tall with a 2,825 mm wheelbase and a full passenger load, that is going to happen. However, the Okavango communicates its size clearly rather than hiding it, which is correct for a car carrying seven people.
• Electric power steering is light and accurate at city speeds. On the highway, the weight you feel is sufficient. The steering feedback is limited, which is standard for this suspension and steering type at this price. The ground clearance at 194 mm covers all UAE standard road surfaces and residential speed humps without difficulty.

There are only two variants to choose from, and they are well-equipped for the prices that are offered.

GK

The standard powertrain with features like a 12.3-inch Apple CarPlay screen, a 360-degree camera, six airbags, dual-zone auto AC with second and third-row vents, EPB with Auto Hold, Hill Descent Control, Blind Spot Detection, roof rails, 19-inch alloys, leather seats, and TPMS. However, it has a manual tailgate, no panoramic sunroof, manual seats without memory/ventilation, and no wireless charging.

GF

All that you get on the GK, this variant gets extra features, including a panoramic 60-inch sunroof, wireless charging, a 6-way power driver seat with a memory function, and ventilated front seats. The additional AED 10,000 you pay provides features that are valuable for most buyers in their daily use. For example, the ventilated seats and wireless charging alone justify the upgrade for buyers who spend significant time in the car.

Zigwheels Recommendation

Quite clearly, the top-end GF is the best choice, where you get almost everything at the right price. And your experience of owning a full-loaded, premium SUV is what this variant is all about. The extra features justify the price.

The Okavango is trying to make a play in the popular and fast-growing accessible 7-seat family SUV segment in the Emirates, where practicality and usable space matter far more than badge value or outright driving appeal. The typical buyer here is a growing family upgrading from a compact SUV, and so it's how deliberately Geely has focused on practicality over flair. What emerges is that the Okavango is built around one core promise, which is real, usable space for seven adults without compromise. That’s where it stands out from many rivals that offer a third row more for occasional use than regular duty. However, it doesn’t try to be sporty or premium in the traditional sense. Instead, it leans into being a dependable, spacious, and straightforward family tool.

If you are among those buyers who are looking for a no-nonsense 7-seater that delivers real-world usability and flexibility for daily family life, the Okavango stands out as one of the most rational and purpose-built choices in this segment.
