Smart and AW Rostamani Group Launch Smart 5 Electric SUV in the UAE’s Urban and Outdoor Lifestyle

Abu Dhabi: Smart has officially expanded its electric portfolio in the UAE with the launch of the all-new Smart 5, a mid-size electric SUV. The launch event was held at the iconic Skydive Dubai, bringing urban sophistication with outdoor capability in the rapidly growing electric car market. Smart 5 is the most versatile and ambitious model by the brand after the launches of models like the 3 and 1. Which are not as versatile and powerful as the newly launched Smart 5. 

Perfect Timing for a Rapidly Growing EV Market

The launch of the Smart 5 comes at the perfect time when the leadership is aiming to achieve 25% of all vehicles on the road to be electric or hybrid by 2030. The UAE has come out as the global leader in large-scale EV adoption with the widespread EV infrastructure, including the EV Charging DEWA Stations across the city. Influencing the EV adoption by infrastructure development and government policy for large-scale adoption. With the electrification vision, the UAE EV sector is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 41.2% between 2025 and 2030.

Represented by the AW Rostamani Group, it is aiming to become the primary premium EV choice in the UAE. Director of EVs at AWR Group Roberto Colucci noted that UAE drivers require a vehicle that can adapt to the fast-paced city life and expansive natural landscapes. Later he explained that the Smart 5 is that vehicle that is suitable for the Dubai and Abu Dhabi city rides and the desert explorations. Its key highlights include the ultra-fast charging from 10% to 80% in just 15 minutes, the UAE-exclusive Dune variant, and the high-performance Smart 5 BRABUS designed for the UAE terrain.

Speaking at the launch, Ms. Mandy Zhang, Global CMO of Smart, highlighted the importance of the UAE to the brand’s global strategy.  She said, “The UAE is a global hub for innovation and an important market for Smart. Launching the Smart 5 here is a testament to our commitment to this forward-thinking nation.

“The Smart 5 is the physical manifestation of our beyond-conventional-boundaries philosophy—a vehicle that empowers users to see, to move, to explore, and to grow.” Later she said that the Smart 5 is designed for the new generation of drivers who prioritize sustainability, sophistication, and safety.

Four Variants Tailored to Diverse Driving Needs

The Smart 5 is offered in four distinct variants to cater to the wide range of customer preferences with different performance metrics, luxury, and capability.

Smart 5 Pro 

It stands as an accessible electric vehicle starting from just AED 159,900. The Pro variant serves as the entry point to the range. It features rear-wheel drive, 250 kW of power, a WLTP range of up to 465 km, and a 0–100 km/h sprint in 6.9 seconds, making it ideal for everyday urban driving.

Smart 5 Premium

With extended range and better luxury starting from AED 199,900, the premium delivers higher comfort and a set of technology than the Pro. It offers an extended range of up to 590 km with luxury additions like the Sennheiser premium audio system. It is suitable for long-distance drivers with advanced technology.  

Smart 5 Dune

As the name suggests, it is a UAE-exclusive desert variant starting from just AED 209,900. It comes with the specialized capabilities and unique styling cues for sand driving, making it a standout choice for adventure-oriented customers. 

Smart 5 BRABUS

BRABUS is the pinnacle of electric performance, priced from AED 219,900. Co-created with BRABUS, it produces a peak output of 475 kW, features all-wheel drive, and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds. Exclusive design elements include BRABUS-embroidered Dinamica® seats and 21-inch Monoblock Z wheels.
