Abu Dhabi: Smart has officially launched its highly anticipated electric SUV, Smart 1, in the United Arab Emirates. The launch marks a major milestone in the brand’s expansion into the Middle East. The joint venture between Mercedes-Benz and Geely brings premium electric mobility to the growing electric car market. With the launch of models like the Smart 1 and Smart 3, it aims to bring sustainable, premium urban mobility for city commuters. 

Designed for the City Lifestyle 

The Smart 1 is a compact SUV with an eye-catching silhouette, panoramic glass roof, and adaptive interior space. The interior holds adequate space to easily fit passengers and luggage with top-notch comfort and the premium technology. The floating electric door handles and a floating roof give it a very distinctive look.

The driver-focused interior features a 2.8-inch high-resolution central display and a 10-inch head-up display for a distraction-free driving experience. 

Design Elements and Interior Features of the Smart 1

The Smart 1 stands as a very competitive SUV in the UAE market with a stylish design, comfortable interior, and advanced technology. Its spacious interior and fast charging (10-80% in 30 mins) are among the most lucrative features. Here are the key features of Smart 1:

• Design and Exterior: Speaking of the design and exterior of the Smart 1, it looks striking with a floating roof, sleek curves, signature LED lighting, and a bold, modern silhouette. Its compact dimensions make it a perfect urban ride that is easy to navigate and maneuver.  In short, it offers both the SUV-like presence and maneuverability of a small car.

The key interior features include the 12.8-inch central touchscreen for seamless infotainment and a 10-inch head-up display. • Technology and Driver Assistance: Packed with Smart features like Smart Pilot Assist, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping, blind-spot monitoring, and advanced connectivity via a dedicated app. 

Battery and Performance of Smart 1

Battery and performance can make or break deals for any electric car, and the Smart 1 does not lag behind in terms of battery and performance. It packs a 66 kWh battery (usable around 62 kWh in many specs), giving it a range of up to 420 km depending on the variant. It supports 22 kW AC charging and fast DC charging (up to 150 kW or more) and can be charged from 10% to 80% in under 30 minutes on compatible stations. Making it very affordable to operate if you use the home charging station. 

The electric motor in the Smart 1 delivers power up to 200 kW (around 272 hp) and comes with an all-wheel drive option. It can go from 0 to 100 km/h in as little as 6.7 seconds in higher trim making driving more fun.

The launch of Smart 1 targets the premium electric vehicle segment.
