Abu Dhabi: Smart has launched the Smart 5, a premium EV SUV in the UAE, marking a major shift from the compact city cars. Coming as the brand’s largest, most powerful, and most versatile model to date in the rapidly growing premium electric SUV segment. It comes at the perfect time when new buyers are looking for more and more performance-oriented vehicles with advanced technology, space, and lifestyle appeal. With the previous lineup with models like the smart 1 and smart 3, the brand has established itself as one of the key players in modern electric vehicles. Now the brand takes it further with the SUV 5 launch, delivering higher power and more versatility. It targets buyers who are looking for an electric SUV with strong performance advanced technology without compromising on comfort or everyday usability

Powertrain and Performance Highlights

Performance is the strong pillar of the Smart 5 overall package. It delivers strong acceleration due to the electric powertrain and feels confident on highway driving. The instant electric torque and smooth power delivery make it easy to navigate through the city and enjoy weekend trips on highways. 

Speaking of the numbers, it comes with a 100 kWh battery that can be charged with DC charging up to 400 kW and AC charging up to 22 kW. Offering an all-electric range of 465 km (WLTP) to 590 km depending on the model, adequate for city drives and long rides across the emirate. The 400 kW charger can charge it from 10% to 80% within just 18 min via compatible charging stations across the UAE.

Difference in the Smart 5 variants 

The smart 5 is available in 4 different variants named smart 5 Pro, smart 5 Premium, smart 5 Dune, and smart 5 BRABUS. They come in 2 different battery options: 76 kWh in the base Pro variant and 100 kWh in the higher trims. The base model delivers a power output of 250 kW, and the higher trims are Premium (267 kW), Dune (432 kW), and the BRABUS (475 kW), making it the most powerful variant.
