Shell GoldStar safety drive contest in UAE

If you drive safe, you can take home the cash prize. Isn’t great? Yes, as per the latest three-day Shell GoldStar Contest in UAE, the lucky 30 people who drive safely and follow all traffic laws can get Dh 1,000 cash prize. The contest started on November 4 by Shell in collaboration with Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), Sharjah Police, and Ciel Marketing & Events.

Earlier the contest was conducted in April 2019. The contest intends to appreciate those motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians who exhibit good driving habits on the roads. It includes wearing helmet/seatbelt, not using a cellphone while driving, lane-driving, using the child safety seat, proper use of indicators, and abide by the specified speed limits.

In the case of cycling, the cyclists who follow all the practices properly can become a winner in this contest. And for walkers, it is required to follow specified pedestrian crossings.

Ali Al Janabi, Shell Country Chairman for the UAE stated, “At Shell, we always aim at prioritizing safety practices, with road safety being one of the pillars that we commit to. Throughout the three days, we hope that the contest will increase awareness of road safety practices and encourage people to think of how they can be safer on the roads.”

The responsibility of choosing the nominees of the contest lies with Road Transport Authority and Sharjah Police. And apart from these, Oman Insurance, Porsche Centre Dubai, Gulf News, Friday magazine, and Wheels magazine also supporting the initiative.

Deema Hussein, Traffic Awareness Senior Manager, RTA, said: “It is always good to keep reminding motorists about the positive results when they are careful on the roads. The Shell Goldstar Contest is an on-ground activity that reaches out to a wider section of road users and we are happy to support it.”
