Renault has revealed its latest mid-size SUV, the Boreal, with the aim it takes on global rivals in the growing segment, including the Toyota Highlander.
The Renault Boreal was initially shown in Brazil, but they will offer it in 41 countries, and they are planning for a rollout in the Middle East, including the UAE. The Boreal, which has a combination of European styling with practical versatility, is designed for space, comfort, and tech.

Bold Exterior and SUV Proportions
Renault has built the Boreal on the new-gen Duster platform, stretched to 4,556 mm in length, with a roomy cabin and large cargo capacity. It delivers 586 liters of boot space, which expands to 1,770 liters when the rear seats are folded.
On the outside, it has sharp LED headlights with a projector setup, a bonnet that is sculpted, and a bold piano black finish on the bumper. Its side profile has 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and strong shoulder lines, which gives it a sporty SUV appeal.
To add to its dynamic look, there are C-shaped LED tail-lamps, a roof-mounted spoiler, and a raised boot all on the rear. They neatly hide the rear door handles in the C-pillar so it has a clean finish.

Engine and Performance Options
The Boreal comes with a 1.3-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine developed in partnership with Mercedes. It is available in two states of tune: 138 bhp and 156 bhp, and the two produce 270 Nm of torque.
There is a flex fuel version of the same engine that pushes power to 163 bhp, also with 270 Nm torque. All variants use a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission so as to give it a smooth delivery of power.
Renault claims it designed the setup for responsive urban driving and relaxed highway cruising. The exact performance figures have not been revealed anyway, but the lineup of powertrain will likely provide efficient acceleration and balanced fuel economy for use by families.
Launch Timeline and Market Reach
Renault will start selling the Boreal in Brazil, then they will launch in 40 other countries. The brand has not confirmed when they will launch in the UAE, but the expectation is that Boreal will arrive in the Emirates by the end of 2025.
From its size, features, and positioning, it could appeal to buyers who want a SUV that is loaded with tech and European styling at a competitive price.
