Range Rover Electric draws 16,000+ interested buyers before arrival

ABU DHABI: The electrified version of the Range Rover is scheduled for arrival later this year. Before its arrival, it has captivated prospective customers globally with over 16,000 buyers expressing interest in it. The ordering books for the inaugural Range Rover Electric opened in December 2023. 

According to Thomas Muller, JLR's product engineering chief, the upcoming electric Range Rover will be based on the existing combustion-engine model delivering unparalleled refinement. It incorporates unique features, like an 800V architecture for quick charging, and will retain its iconic design. 

The upcoming Range Rover Electric boasts outstanding off-road capabilities and features like wading through 850 mm-deep water. Hints suggest that the Range Rover Electric will exceed 500 horsepower. For improved all-wheel-drive performance and optimal traction in challenging conditions, it will have a twin-motor setup. These advancements showcase the commitment of Range Rover to delivering versatility and unparalleled performance in the electric vehicle segment.

Currently, JLR is conducting on-road prototype testing in Dubai and Sweden, focusing on battery performance and durability. 

The Range Rover Electric’s production will start at the Solihull plant alongside the other existing hybrid versions. It will initially be equipped with third-party batteries and then it will transition to packs from the upcoming Gigafactory of JLR in Somerset.
