- With a 3-in-1 electric motor, the car will be available in 52 kWh and 75 kWh battery options.
Nissan has finally unveiled the new third-generation LEAF, an electric car built on more than 15 years of experience and nearly 700,000 sales worldwide. The LEAF offers a longer range, quicker charging, and smarter technology that makes daily driving easier.
The new LEAF aims to attract not just current EV fans but also those still on traditional engines.
Nissan LEAF – Exterior Styling
The new Nissan LEAF combines Japanese simplicity with a futuristic look. Its design features a modern, sleek shape, with a fastback silhouette, flush door handles, aero wheels, and a flat underbody that helps it cut through the air. The car’s front has headlights that highlight a new V-motion grille, and some versions include a lightbar above the Nissan badge.
The rear stands out with 3D holographic tail lamps, giving it a high-tech feel. The exterior shows off a special geometric symbol called “ni-san,” which symbolises a fresh start for Nissan and the LEAF. Larger 19-inch wheels add a bold touch, making the LEAF look sporty and forward-thinking.

Interior Comfort and Tech
The interior offers plenty of space, thanks to Nissan's flat-floor CMF-EV platform. The wide, horizontal instrument panel appears to float above the dash. Depending on the model and region, the car features either dual 12.3-inch displays or dual 14.3-inch displays that are smoothly integrated.
Some versions come with Bose® Personal® Plus premium sound. Speakers are built into the front headrests, creating an immersive listening experience. A Nissan-first feature is the Dimming Panoramic Roof. It includes heat shielding and Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal (PDLC) technology. With the press of a button, owners can enjoy natural light and year-round comfort.
Powertrain and Performance
The new Nissan LEAF offers a smoother, more responsive drive with a smaller, more refined powertrain that reduces vibration by 75 per cent. It features a 3-in-1 electric motor, an inverter, and a reducer that are now 10 per cent smaller than before.
In some regions, it offers Intelligent Distance Control Assist, which helps keep a steady gap from the car in front and improves regenerative braking.
The LEAF can come with two liquid-cooled lithium-ion batteries, either 52 kWh offering 174 hp and 345 Nm torque or 75 kWh providing 215 hp and 355 Nm torque. Both come with thermal management to keep batteries warm in cold weather. The larger battery offers up to 488 km of range in the US.
The LEAF also has a new, standard North American Charging Standard connector, allowing fast charging at Tesla stations. With fast charging technology, the battery can juice up from 10 per cent to 80 per cent in about 35 minutes. An optional route planner shows nearby charging stations and provides real-time info, making EV driving easier.

Safety features
The new LEAF is equipped with a wide range of smart driver-assist features designed to make driving simpler and more intuitive. One of these is the available 3D Intelligent Around View® Monitor, which gives a top-down view of the car and its surroundings.
It also offers Invisible Hood View, which helps see the area directly in front of the vehicle, and Front Wide View, providing a clear look ahead from a wider angle. These tools work together to help drivers feel more confident and aware on the road.
Pricing and Launch
The new third-generation Nissan LEAF will be built at two locations. One is the Tochigi Plant in Japan, and the other is Nissan's advanced factory in Sunderland, northeast England. More details, including prices, will be shared closer to when the car becomes available in each market.
