In the last LEAF Insights video, Nissan explains how the newest EV technology helps with daily driving, simplifies owning an EV, and improves owners' lives. Richard Candler, Vice President of Global Product Strategy, stated that worrying about driving long distances is a problem for people considering EVs.
He added that the LEAF's smart route planner, working with Google Automotive Services, makes it simple to find charging stations, so drivers can feel secure on their trips.
Charging Tech
Nissan worked hard to make owning an EV easy and convenient, with smooth charging as a main focus. With a quick-charging station, the new Nissan LEAF can add up to 250 km of range in just 14 minutes. In the US, the vehicle uses the North American Charging Standard (NACS) and is compatible with Plug and Charge. This makes charging your EV simpler and more convenient.

Also, some models have a navigation-linked feature that cools the battery based on the destination entered. The system recognises situations like very steep roads or long highway trips. If it thinks the battery isn't working hard, it changes how the battery is cooled to save power.
Also, this system helps when charging quickly in the summer. If the system knows the upcoming drive won't need much power, it lets the battery get a bit warmer than usual while charging fast, so it can charge more.
V2X and V2L Technology
Keiji Endo, the Chief Planning Specialist, emphasised the importance of V2X (Vehicle-to-Everything) for the future. He explained that it is key to balancing energy supply and demand. It also plays a role in helping society use more renewable energy sources. He added that electric vehicles are not just cars; they support both customers and communities with their energy needs.
The new Nissan LEAF has Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) connection spots available. In the U.S., some models have a connector inside and another in the trunk area, together providing up to 1500 watts of power. Owners can use this power for various small and medium-sized devices while camping or enjoying outdoor activities.
Also, customers can use an optional V2L adapter to easily power devices through the external charging port. In countries like Japan, the new LEAF still has a Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) feature. It can send power back to a home or receive energy from solar panels.

The vehicle can connect to home energy systems. This allows you to use the car's battery to power your appliances or charge your devices.
This feature makes energy use better by reducing the need for grid power during busy times and makes things easier for LEAF owners. It lets the vehicle owners keep the power on if the electricity goes out.
