Mahindra set to launch two electric vehicles worldwide

ABU DHABI: The auto industry is going electric. Most of the automakers are introducing plug-in hybrid options and battery cars as part of their model lines. Indian automobile giant Mahindra has also adopted electrification as the cornerstone of its future strategies. In an exclusive interview, the company revealed that two EVs will join its lineup by the end of 2025.

The company recently launched the 6-seater Scorpio SUV in the global market. And within the next few years, it will introduce six EVs. Volkswagen and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. have signed a Partnering Agreement to evaluate the scope of collaboration for future electric vehicles. Through this partnership, Mahindra wants to equip its “Born Electric Platform” with MEB electric components like battery system components, electric motors, and battery cells. 

Mahindra’s Asia-Pacific boss said that “Firstly, without getting into specifics, it's about collaborating on components, especially key components for making (electric vehicles).” He also outlined the future EV plans of the company and said, “We have the INGLO platform, which will be a common platform that will go under five or six new models. It is a flexible platform.”

Mahindra aims to lead the electric mobility revolution by bringing top-notch electric SUVs with advanced technology, through the strategic pillars of Technology, Brand and Design. Mahindra has created two new brands Iconic brand XUV and the all-new electric-only brand BE to house the company's EV portfolio. The first five EVs will be - BE.05, BE.07, XUV.e8, BE.09 and XUV.e9.

Mahindra’s upcoming electric vehicles will be unlike anything else on the market. Mahindra will share the main highlights of these vehicles in the coming days.
