Abu Dhabi: Kia Middle East and Africa has taken its latest innovation, the Kia Tasman, the brand’s first-ever pickup truck, straight into the desert. The automaker hosted an exclusive desert driving experience in Jordan, designed to demonstrate its strength, endurance, and versatility.

In October 2024, the Tasman had its world debut at the Jeddah International Motor Show. This event builds on the region's significant pre-booking client enthusiasm. By staging this showcase in Jordan, Kia emphasised its ambition to redefine the pickup segment with a balance of off-road capability, modern technology, and SUV-like comfort.

Conquering Jordan’s Diverse Terrains

Participants were taken on a challenging journey across Jordan’s natural wonders:

Dead Sea Basin to Petra: Long stretches to test endurance and comfort.

Wadi Araba dunes: Assessing sand traction and torque delivery.

Al Bayda rocky climbs: Pushing chassis strength and suspension stability.

Mountain roads: Demonstrating handling on winding routes.

The test drive comprised specially created obstacles such as a 30-degree side hill for lateral stability, a bumpy mogul descent to assess the X-Trek system. Further, the steep grades underscored the suspension tuning and torque distribution of the Tasman.
