Jaguar E-Type Zero used at the United Kingdom’s royal wedding

ABU DHABI: You might have already heard about the royal wedding in the UK that took place the other day. And if you have come across some video clips from the wedding, you might have noticed many things apart from just the majestic wedding setting.

Jaguar E-Type Zero Side

Though most of the people cheered for the couple, if you are a true automobile enthusiast, you might have noticed the line of cars that embraced the royal wedding. And guess what, the royal family’s pool of English cars was out on full display. There was an Arnage-based Golden Jubilee 2002 Bentley State Limousine, another Bentley Mulsanne and a Rolls-Royce Phantom IV State Car. Moreover, even the escort car was a Land Rover Range Rover.

While on the way to the church, the bride rode on the Rolls-Royce. However, the car that couple rode in after the ceremony is what took everyone by awe. It was a blue-colored Jaguar E-Type Zero, a one-of-a-kind electric vehicle. Indeed, just like the wedding, the iconic Jaguar (resembling models from 1960s) looked royal too.

E-Type Engine

The Jaguar E-Type Zero is designed like any retro-car with manual windows, premium wooden steering, and manual roof mechanism. However, there are some high-tech bits too, like an LCD right in the centre of the dashboard stack, digital gauges, and a rotary dial gearbox shifter.

This Jaguar E-Type is very different from the standard petrol-powered version. Instead of the straight six-cylinder engine, this particular version uses a 220-kW electric motor which can produce up to 295 hp power and sends it down to the rear wheels.

The particular E-Type Zero was first unveiled at the Jaguar Land Rover Tech Fest back in September 2017. It is based on the 1968 Series of 1.5 E-Type and has been retrofitted with different powerplant by Jaguar Classic Works, a special division of the company. However, it is still not clear whether Jaguar lent the car or gifted it to the couple on their Royal wedding.
