Jaguar I-Pace

Jaguar has complemented the I-Pace’s exterior with a premium interior. The windows are large, and the panoramic glass roof makes the cabin look bigger. The roof doesn’t get a blind. Jaguar claims, the glass absorbs infrared rays and keeps the cabin cool. The windscreen is wide and offers an expansive view of the road ahead. The front seats are sculpted and multi-way adjustable. The multifunction, leather-wrapped chunky steering wheel and the smart digital dials puts the driver at ease. The dashboard is layered. The 2024 Jaguar I-Pace comes with a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment unit and a smaller 5.5-inch unit for climate control. Both run on the Jaguar Touch Pro Duo. The cabin itself is roomy and lends a sense of assurance. 

Jaguar is preparing an all-new, all-electric range of cars for the 2025 model-year. For 2024, changes to the I-Pace are minimal. The usual lozenge pattern front grille has been replaced by a solid panel in a dark grey colour. The intakes and lower bumper below the grille have been reworked to look more intense. The Black Exterior Pack now comes as standard. It adds dark touches in spots like the side mirror caps and the trim around the side windows. The SUV comes with a flowing-down roof design that’s common these days. But the cab-forward design, stubby bonnet, and large passenger cell are big departures from the traditional SUV silhouette. Even the rear windscreen rake is non-conventional. The 4.6-metre long 2024 Jaguar I-Pace looks futuristic and stands out from the crowd.

The 2024 Jaguar I-Pace gets nicely bolstered standard sport seats but is less comfortable for long rides. The performance seats are a better option. The two front seats get a multi-level adjustment. Space on the rear seat is among the best in the crossover SUV class. There’s enough headroom and legroom even for six-foot-tall passengers. The rear seatback is a bit upright, while the seating position is somewhat knee-up. The automatic climate control adjusts to the outside temperature pretty fast. The cabin itself is quite. Some tire noise from the 19-inch wheels during hard acceleration does enter the cabin. The adjustable air suspension absorbs all potholes and bumps. 

The 2024 Jaguar I-Pace is equipped with two permanent magnet synchronous motors that produce a combined output of 400PS/696Nm. The motors are powered by a liquid-cooled, 90.0-kWh lithium-ion battery. Jaguar claims that the car returns 480km mileage on a single recharge. That seems to be a tall claim. The 2024 Jaguar I-Pace isn’t overtly fast as most all-electric cars are thought to be. But it’s quiet and quick. Handling is exceptionally good. It quickly turns corners. The I-Pace is agile and the all-wheel-drive gives the confidence to push hard. The steering wheel is nicely weighted and has the right heft for different speeds. A 2.2-tonne high-riding crossover was never so engaging to drive. 

The 2024 Jaguar I-Pace comes with connected technology, front and rear parking sensors, 360-degree camera. Other equipment includes automatic high-beam headlights, blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning, automated emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control. On-board tech includes traffic sign recognition. The car also gets multiple airbags. 

At a starting price of AED 368,550, the 2024 Jaguar I-Pace is not an affordable car for the masses. But it drives well, offers strong acceleration, and has a surprisingly tight handling. It allows the driver to enjoy their time behind the wheel. It’s comfortable, spacious and well-built. The I-Pace is for buyers who don’t mind paying more for a premium, all-electric car.
