Hyundai Ioniq 6 lands at the 2023 Bangkok International Motor Show

ABU DHABI: Hyundai Ioniq 6 makes its ASEAN showcasing at the 2023 Bangkok International Motor Show. The EV made its global premiere a few months back and its arrival in Thailand marks its regional debut.

The EV is inspired by the '20s and '30s, it looks futuristic and sleek on the outside. It measures 4,855 mm long, 1,495 mm tall, and 1,880 mm wide, with a wheelbase of 2,950 mm. The Ioniq 6 shares the 800V E-GMP platform used in the IONIQ 5.  It comes fitted with 18-inch or 20-inch wheels.

Hyundai has improved several performance specifications on this car, including a significantly better range and a modified rear and front bumper for an aerodynamically-optimized shape. Hyundai Chairman Chung Eui-sun asked for these tweaks before the electric sedan hit the market. The car packs a 77.4 kWh battery enabling a maximum range of 614 km on one full charge.

The design philosophy of the Hyundai Ioniq 6 is inspired by the 2020 Prophecy concept. It has a cocoon-like interior that gives a premium feel to the passengers. Each door has a pair of screens that serve as a display for the side-view cameras. The main highlight is the dual-color ambient lighting that offers a choice of six dual-color and sixty-four-color themes to the users. The Ioniq 6 uses paint from vegetable oils on the doors, recycled PET fabric for the seats and recycled fishing nets for carpets.

The dashboard features a 12-inch touchscreen infotainment display and a 12-inch digital instrument panel, supporting Apple CarPlay and both Android Auto. The passengers can pair two devices at a time, taking advantage of the Bluetooth multi-connection capability. The arc of the side windows and roofline give a droopy look to the Ioniq 6's rear end from some angle.

There is no official statement on whether the Ioniq 6 will be available in the UAE and other GCC markets.
