Geely to launch a new plug-In hybrid SUV in Q2 2023

ABU DHABI: Geely has announced a new range of premium EVs called Galaxy. The brand will introduce seven models in this range and three of them would debut in 2023. Two vehicles from this range were showcased at an event in Hangzhou: the Galaxy L7 plug-in hybrid SUV and the Galaxy Light fully electric concept.

It spans a wheelbase of 2785 mm and measures 1905 mm in width, 4700 mm in length and 1685 mm in height.

    Geely Galaxy L7

    L7 is a plug-in hybrid SUV equipped with an intuitive operating system designed by Ecarx. It will use a “dedicated smart electrified architecture” derived from the firm’s SEA platform. It will also be equipped with various new technologies including the Nordthor 8848 hybrid powertrain and Galaxy N-Operating System software.

    Geely Galaxy L7

    Galaxy vehicles will use new Aegis battery system that has the capability to protect the cells during a crash against fires. It will also be equipped with the ‘Wise Star Cloud Connected Central Computing System’, that can pre-empt thermal runaways extending the battery life by 20%.

    The Galaxy L7 plug-in hybrid SUV will go on sale by the second quarter of 2023 in China. Geely has not yet announced whether these cars will be sold outside China. If the company has any such plans it will most likely reveal it around the middle of the decade.
