BMW to reveal the 3 Series G20 at the Paris Motor Show

ABU DHABI: After a series of camouflaged pictures and rumors surfaced the Internet, the German automaker has finally confirmed the official reveal of 2019 3 Series G20. The debut of the sedan is slated to happen at the upcoming Paris Motor Show, doors for which go wide from Oct 4 to Oct 14.

BMW shared the same teaser image, as already seen before, for the official reveal announcement. The teaser image shows the trademark double-kidney grille flanked by headlamps that also embraces the L-shaped LED daytime running lights. Additionally, the door handles get illumination while the taillights appear to share the same LED lighting pattern as the front.

Built on the brand’s modular Cluster Architecture (CLAR), the new 3 Series G20 will be longer and wider than the sibling F30. Moreover, it will get a generous wheelbase and significant reduction in weight by up to 55 kg. For improved handling and ride quality, the car is being tipped to have twin-rated passive shock absorbers and variable sport steering column.

Additionally, the limited-slip differential will also be offered as an option on higher-end variants. This can also be considered as a trimmed down version of the M Differential that not only distributes torque to the rear wheels equally but also makes up for the rotational speed difference.

The 3 Series G20 will draw power from the 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged engine that churns out a max power of 263.6 PS and a peak torque of 400 Nm. An M performance version is also expected to be revealed, which in case it does, then expect it to underpin a better version of the B58 3.0-litre six-cylinder turbocharged mill.

Once launched, the new G20 will challenge the likes of the Audi A4 and Mercedes-Benz C-Class, with a list of petrol, diesel, and plug-in hybrid variants. The latter is still not confirmed though. There are rumours that the company is also considering to launch an all-electric version, for which of course we need to wait for the day.
