BMW M4 CS Edition VR46 Unveiled to Honour Valentino Rossi’s Legacy

BMW has launched the limited-run M4 CS Edition VR46 to celebrate the 46th birthday of nine-time world champion Valentino Rossi. The car reflects Rossi’s racing soul and BMW’s top-tier craftsmanship.

Rossi is the one designing it himself, with only 92 units split between Sport and Style versions. Each of the vehicles will proudly bear the iconic number 46.

Exclusive Design Collaboration with Rossi

Valentino Rossi, known as “The Doctor,” was deeply involved in the design of the M4 CS Edition VR46. BMW M GmbH collaborated with him to craft two striking variants. The Sport version dazzles in Marina Bay Blue metallic with oversized “46” graphics in Tanzanite Blue and bright yellow detailing.

The Style version, by contrast, has a Frozen Tanzanite Blue matte finish, with its own unique shade of “46.” Both editions have the VR46 logo and Rossi’s signature on the carbon-fibre roof, which was individually painted at BMW’s Plant Landshut.

Craftsmanship and Paintwork Precision

The BMW Group Plant Dingolfing handled the small-batch production. Here, the paint team didn't automate anything, they actually spent 20 hours on each car.

Every detail, from sanding the surfaces, applying custom stencils for the yellow “46” and racing lines, to layering clear coats by hand, was crafted with care. They specially developed the carbon roof, bumpers, and internal high-performance components for this limited series.

Custom Details and Interior Finishings

The car, on the inside, reflects the VR46 legacy just as much. It has:

• Interior lined in Night Blue with Sao Paulo Yellow contrast.
• M Carbon bucket seats with yellow stitching and centre marker.
• Headrests and door sills displaying a bright yellow VR46 logo.
• A “1/46” badge on each centre console.

With these details, every unit has this personal and collectible feeling.

Exclusive Ownership Experience

Apart from the design, what sets this edition apart is the personal touch. Each buyer will get a once-in-a-lifetime package that includes a visit to Rossi’s home and his VR46 Motor Ranch in Tavullia, Italy. Owners will also join a BMW M Driving Experience at Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli.

As a BMW M works driver since 2023, Rossi has now completed his switch from two to four wheels. "The Doctor" recently competed in GT World Challenge Europe, coming second at the Bathurst 12 Hour in 2025.
