2018 Ford Expedition launched in the UAE

ABU DHABI: It was only in November 2017 that Ford UAE unveiled the all-new Expedition at the Dubai Motor Show. And now finally after three months the said SUV is finally up for sale in the country. Not only the UAE market, but auto markets across the globe are enjoying the 2018 Expedition. The latest country to receive the car post the UAE is the Philippines, where it is currently showcased at the ongoing Manila International Auto Show.

Speaking of the UAE specific Expedition, it will be available in four trim options - XL, XLT, Limited, and Platinum. All the variants are powered by the same 3.5-litre EcoBoost V6 mill coupled to a 10-speed automatic transmission with SelectShift Capability. While the XL, XLT, and Limited trim options benefit from the standard power and torque figures of 276 PS and 637 Nm, the Platinum variant enjoys the maximum output of 406 PS and 650 Nm.

The all-new Expedition like its predecessor is packed with fantastic utility and luxury features along with many add-on modern amenities. Thus, making it capable to go against popular cars like Toyota Land Cruiser, Nissan Patrol, and Chevrolet Tahoe.

According to Ford, the fourth generation model is the most capable, smart, and adaptable Expedition built to date. Giving it the required edge are welcoming features like adaptive cruise control, active park assist, blind spot monitoring, wireless charging along with its new 136 kg lighter frame (thanks to the extensive use of aluminum).

Elaborating the all-new Expedition attributes, Marketing Director at Ford Africa and the Middle East, Crystal Worthem, said, “The all-new Expedition represents the very latest thinking in SUV design and capability, and has given our teams the ideal opportunity to incorporate the most up-to-date features for our owners to enjoy. We set the benchmark and established the SUV category nearly three decades ago with the Explorer and the full-size SUV segment with the Expedition in the 90s.”

Ford has adopted an entirely new design philosophy for the 2018 Expedition. The full-size SUV measures 5,665 mm in length, 2,030 mm in width, and 1,936 mm in height. Giving it an upmarket aura are exterior design elements like massive chrome grille, extended bumper, and restyled headlamps. The side, as well as rear profile, looks differentiating from the ongoing model.

From upholstery quality to centre console controls, the cabin has received significant revision, all for good, we must say. One of the prime highlights being its spaciousness. The new Ford Expedition offers best-in-class leg- and hip-room.
