Mercedes-Benz EQB

The 2024 EQB has a well-appointed cabin, having all the features expected from a car at this price point. The EQB is essentially a five-passenger car with two rows of seats. There’s an optional, pop-up third row of seats. The car gets a good amount of metallic detailing, matched to black wood embellishments. Hand-crafted leather has been used for the seats. The red stitching adds a bit of colour. There’s 64-color ambient lighting to choose from. With a focus on premium bits, use of hard plastics in the cabin is minimum. The dashboard is dominated by two 10.0-inch touchscreen systems. Both run on the MBUX interface and the joint screens work seamlessly. The ‘Hey Mercedes’ voice control system from the A-Class is present in the EQB. The two units are pretty easy to use, though the infotainment system does become a bit fussy at times. The windscreen is wide and offers a great view of the road ahead. The windows are large, allowing a more airy cabin.

Looks-wise the 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQB appears strikingly similar to petrol-powered GLB-Class sports utility vehicle (SUV). There are a few styling changes though, like the smaller boot in the EQB. For 2024, Mercedes-Benz has carried out a slight makeover to the EQB. The car now comes with a redesigned grille with the same star pattern that adorn the company’s other all-electric cars. The front-end has a light bar that runs along the top. The taillights and front bumper are now massaged. The 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQB has a boxy design with a sloping roofline.

Seat kinetics in the 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQB is particularly good. It makes small adjustments to the lumbar support, backrest, and seat bolsters. Passengers aren’t kept in the same position for too long. This is especially helpful during long rides. The suspension is nicely balanced and only the worst road imperfections are minimally felt in the cabin. The ride quality is planted. There’s a nice amount of sidewall on the 18-inch ties. The cabin’s noise insulation is fantastic. The two front rows are spacious with a lot of legroom and headroom. The jump seats at the back aren’t suited for adults and are best avoidable during long trips.  

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQB is equipped with two permanent magnet motors that produce a combined output of 290PS/520Nm. The motors are mated to a lithium-ion, 66.5kWh liquid-cooled battery. The car comes with a 9.6kW on-board charger. With a small turning radius of 11.4m, the Mercedes-Benz EQB effortlessly negotiates sharp corners. The driving experience is calm, serene, and relaxed. The seats are positioned higher than average crossover-SUVs. The large wing mirrors and a rear window lend a great around-view. 

The 2024 EQB has one of the best safety systems in its class. The assistive functions include active braking, lane keeping, speed limiting, and adaptive cruise control. The car gets multiple airbags, blind spot monitoring, parking sensors, and a rear-view camera. With disc brakes on all wheels, the brakes have great bite and the car stops instantly.

At a starting price of AED 324,900, the 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQB is priced much higher than any other car in the crossover SUV class. There’s nothing to complain about the EQB, except for the third row of seats and the limited cargo space. The EQB offers a wholesome riding experience. The charging time of the battery is really quick. It’s a great car for those with a deep pocket.
