Ford Edge ST

For an SUV of its size and price, the interior of the Ford Edge ST looks minimalist and simple with a clean layout. The all-black cabin of the Edge ST is complemented by premium satin chrome accents around the AC vents, on the steering wheel spokes, sides of the lower centre console and surrounds for the inner door handles and instrument console.

The three-spoke Y-themed multi-functional steering wheel of the Ford Edge ST has a comprehensive instrument console behind it, which comes with a unique layout for the ST dials with 4.2-inch LCD screens on display. The centre console has a waterfall-like layout, with a huge portrait-styled 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system and buttons for the dual-zone automatic climate control below it. The lower centre console, which has a curved design, houses USB charging ports and cup holders.

The cabin of the Ford Edge ST is further equipped with more premium features like unique leather and suede sports seats with electrical adjustability, heating and ventilation functions, power-adjustability for the steering wheel with memory function, sunroof, ambient lighting, 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system, wireless charging pad and rear seat entertainment package.

As mentioned above, the Ford Edge ST is based on the facelifted version of the second-generation Edge, which came out in 2019. Given that the current generation model of the Ford Edge is almost a decade old, the exterior design language of the Ford Edge ST looks a bit too long in the tooth. However, Ford has tried its best to liven up things with a few visual add-ons over the regular Edge to make it look more exclusive.

At the front, the Ford Edge ST has a hexagonal grille with tapered edges on the sides, which comes with a gloss black painted mesh design and a red-coloured ST logo in its lower portion. The sleek-looking headlamps, which have angular inner edges, feature adaptive LED illumination with unique blackout treatment. For the tiny LED fog lamps placed on the lower corners of the front bumper, the Edge ST has large angular black housings.

From the side, the Ford Edge ST looks large, thanks to a long wheelbase and angular A and C pillars, which make it look dynamic. The 21-inch premium gloss black alloy wheels give the Edge ST a sporty and heightened stance, further enhancing its road presence. Adding more dynamism to the side profile, here is a sharp crease, which emerges from the front fender and runs to the lower edge of the tail lamp.

At the rear, the Ford Edge ST has a raked windscreen with a roof-mounted spoiler and side aero curtains, along with a gloss black panel below it, which connects the large combination tail lamps with attractive LED inserts. The lower edges of the rear bumper have slim and tiny air curtains on the corners, while the lower part of the rear bumper has tough body cladding, a large silver skid plate and dual rounded exhaust ports.

The Ford Edge ST is being offered with an all-wheel drive layout as standard, which coupled with two drive modes on offer, makes the driving experience of the SUV quite precise and involving. The SUV has minimal body roll for its stance and size, which is further enhanced by the stiff setup for the suspension, which comes at a small compromise in ride quality.

Powering the Ford Edge ST is a 2.7-litre turbocharged Ecoboost V6 petrol engine, which is the most powerful powertrain offered in the Ford Edge lineup. This engine here is coupled to a 7-speed automatic transmission and churns out a maximum power output of 335 bhp and a maximum torque output of 515 Nm. Ford claims a fuel efficiency of 11.8 kmpl for the Edge ST.

The Ford Edge ST has been equipped with a range of safety features, such as eight airbags, front and rear parking cameras and sensors, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, traction control, hill start assist, hill descent control and Ford Co-Pilot 360 technology, which includes features like adaptive cruise control, evasive steering assist and enhanced active park assist.

The Ford Edge ST might be slightly dated in terms of appearance inside-out, but it comes across as a well-accomplished SUV in the more crucial aspects for a driving enthusiast – a powerful powertrain and a well-tuned, sporty suspension and chassis setup.
