Citroen C5 Aircross

The Citroen C5 Aircross comes with an all-black layout for the cabin as standard, which features a top-class Nappa leather finish for the seats, steering wheel, transmission lever and door panels. There are a lot of quirky elements in this cabin, which makes it an interesting place to remain seated.

The rounded rectangular influence of the exterior can be seen in the spokes and centre boss of the multi-functional steering wheel and the housing for the fully-digital TFT instrument console behind it. The centre console features an asymmetric trapezoidal free-standing 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system and trapezoidal AC vents placed below it with gloss-black surrounds. The lower centre console accommodates a minimalist panel for the dual-zone climate control buttons and a wide panel for the transmission lever housing.

The cabin of the C5 Aircross is decently equipped with additional features like a sunroof, powered driver’s seat, wireless charger, 6-speaker audio system, ventilated front seats and more. However, given its positioning and price, we would have loved the cabin to be more feature-rich.

Carving an identity of itself in the heavily-crowded space for SUVs is not an easy task nowadays, though the Citroen C5 Aircross does it effortlessly with its unique design. While it has a boxy stance, the design elements and a few quirky highlights make the C5 Aircross instantly noticeable.

At the front, the Citroen C5 Aircross comes with a wide fascia, with wide C-shaped headlamps on the corners and a wide grille in the middle. The all-LED headlamps of this SUV come with dual strips of daytime running LEDs, which merge with the horizontal chrome strips running across the width of the grille. The front bumper, with vertically-placed air vents with rounded edges and wide trapezoidal air dame with a silver scuff plate at the bottom, gives a muscular look to the front. The minimalist cladding around the fog lamps on the bumper corners looks good too. 

The Citroen C5 Aircross might have dramatically running creases or curves in its side profile. However, the design of the window panels and C-pillar make the SUV look unique, with the rear window panels having chrome highlights in their back portion. For a rugged SUV look, the C5 Aircross comes with body cladding over the rounded wheel arches and bottom of the door panels, the latter of which also gets a unique trapezoidal silver garnish.

At the back, the Citroen C5 Aircross has a rounded rectangular influence for the rear windscreen, tail lamps with LED inserts and the license plate housing. The rear bumper also comes with heavy-looking cladding all over it, with its corners housing chrome-finished exhaust ports. 

Comfortable ride quality has always been the forte of the C5 Aircross, and this new version continues the tradition of offering a supple ride quality with its soft-tuned suspension combination. Adding more finesse to the ride quality and handling balance of the C5 Aircross are the multiple drive modes and a nicely weighted steering setup.

In the UAE, all three variants of the Citroen C5 Aircross are powered by a 1.6-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which is the standard powertrain option here. Paired with a 6-speed automatic gearbox, this engine produces 165 PS of maximum power and 240 Nm of maximum torque. For an SUV of this size, the engine could have been a bit more powerful.

The safety equipment list of the Citroen C5 Aircross comprises features like six airbags, front and rear parking sensors, reverse camera, hands-free parking, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, tyre pressure monitoring system, cruise control and driver attention alert.

The Citroen C5 Aircross might not be the most feature-rich or powerful offering among all the premium midsize SUVs on offer. However, where the C5 Aircross outshines all the other SUVs in offering a supple ride quality, which offers an untiring experience for even longer journeys.
