Citroen SpaceTourer

Available in three length options, the Citroen Spacetourer claims to offer an uncompromised experience in space and comfort, in which it excels effortlessly. This people mover has enough space to carry all of its passengers with ease and comfort. While the cabin is decently equipped for a people mover, the design of the cabin does not evoke a sense of novelty much like its exterior.

The functional driver’s cockpit of the Citroen Spacetourer includes a four-spoke multi-functional steering wheel and a simple-looking but comprehensive instrument console behind it. Much like the gauges inside the instrument console, the upper centre console housing also has a rounded rectangular theme and houses a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system and vertical AC vents to its sides. The upper part of the centre console also has a slim panel for auto AC buttons placed just below the infotainment system. The cabin is loaded with heating controls, storage spaces and bottle holders, with other features being a push start-stop button, dual-pane sunroof, leather upholstery and cruise control.

For a people mover, which has been designed with the intent of keeping function over form, the Citroen Spacetourer is one handsome-looking vehicle. The Spacetourer has a few modern-day design elements, which makes it look fresh and up-to-date.

At the front, the Citroen Spacetourer comes with a slim-looking rectangular grille with two horizontal slats and Citroen’s logo in the middle finished in chrome. The headlamp housings positioned on the sides of the grille look simple, but they look modern with LED projectors within them. The front bumper here has a compact trapezoidal air dam in the middle and a large air dam at the bottom, which merges with the fog lamp housings. In addition to the fog lamps, the lower housings also get horizontal strips of daytime running LEDs. 

The Citroen Spacetourer looks conventional when viewed from the sides, with the traditional van-like boxy styling having a sliding theme for the rear door panels. The rounded wheel arches have rounded contours above them, which is the only design element to talk about for the side panels. The addition of machined alloy wheels as standard adds a sense of premium appeal to the otherwise functional-looking side profile.

The rear profile of the Citroen Spacetourer also looks old-school and functional with a boxy design, having vertically-laid tail lamps on the side edges. The large rear windscreen covers much of the space of the rear profile, while the boot lid has a small housing for the license plate.

Like most of the offerings from Citroen, the Spacetourer also offers a comfortable ride quality with its soft-tuned suspension. At all kinds of speeds, especially at lower speeds, the Spacetourer manages to keep you comfortable. However, at higher speeds, the body roll can be felt at times, which might not be liked by the person behind the steering wheel.

Powering the Citroen Spacetourer is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine, which produces 150 PS of maximum power and 370 Nm of maximum torque. Offered with a 6-speed manual transmission, the engine channels the power produced to the front wheels. Citroen claims a top speed of 185 kmph for the Spacetourer.

The Spacetourer is armed with a decent amount of safety features like dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors and camera, electronic stability control, traction control, hill hold assist and remote central locking. 

As a people mover, the Citroen Spacetourer ticks many right boxes, with its spacious cabin and comfortable ride quality, which makes it one of the best people-carrying vans offered right now.
