Chevrolet CORVETTE Z06

The interior of the 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is as striking as its exterior. The car inherits the driver-focussed layout from the standard Chevrolet C8. The Z06 gets a multi-layered dashboard with an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, connected to a standard 10-speaker audio system. There’s an optional Performance Data Recorder (PDR) that records videos of everything from track exploits to country-road cruises. The steering wheel is square-type. Climate control buttons are placed on the dashboard but aren’t very intuitive. The cabin gets full leather upholstery. Rear visibility is a bit compromised, and it’ll take some time for drivers to get used. Chevrolet has installed a camera-based rear-view mirror display to resolve the issue. Like other sports coupes, there isn’t much trunk space.

The 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 looks straight out of a sci-fi movie. It probably has the most striking looks in its class. The car has a lower stance with large air intakes and wider fenders that improve cooling capabilities. The Corvette Z06 is aerodynamically styled to reduce air drag. The car is mounted on a carbon-fiber and aluminium backbone space-frame chassis but with lightweight axles. This has reduced the overall weight and improved performance. The optional Z07 package comes with firmer coil springs, larger carbon-ceramic brakes, and wider wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires. 

The 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is a strictly two-seater car. The aggressively bolstered seats are comfortable and offer great support during racing. They also hold the occupants in position during high-speed cornering. But the ride quality is a bit on the stiffer side while speeding. The car’s adaptive suspension is nicely tuned. It irons out most of the bumps and potholes that would likely upset other sports cars. The 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is known for its distinctive sound, but none of that enters the cabin because of the great noise insulation. There’s a bit of a tire noise, though. The automatic climate control provides nice airflow from the stylish vents. The heated and ventilated seats make traveling more comfortable. 

The 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is hauled by a naturally aspirated, eight-cylinder, 5.5-litre petrol engine that produces 670 PS/625 Nm. The motor is mated to a lightweight, eight-speed automatic. The car also comes with wider and larger wheels, gripper tires, front and rear distinctive styling, and a shorter drive ratio that aids quicker acceleration. The steering wheel is nicely balanced and promptly obeys driver commands. Transmission change is seamless. Handling is easy, and the Corvette Z06 merges well with traffic. But the mid-spec engine means the car is a fuel guzzler. 

The safety equipment of the 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is impressive but leaves room for improvement. The car comes with enlarged steel brakes with six-piston front callipers. The optional Z07 package adds firmer coil springs and larger carbon-ceramic brakes. Although they may squeal after hard application, the carbon brakes have good road bite and progression. Other safety equipment includes a side blind-zone alert, rear cross-traffic warning, parking sensors, and multiple airbags.   

The 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06, at a starting price of AED 581,400 is certainly not the cheapest car in its segment. It also can’t be the first car of a speed enthusiast because a vehicle as powerful as the Corvette 706 requires a bit of practice to handle. It’s attractively styled and turns heads. Its performance, too is highly impressive. The 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 sits at the top of premium sports coupes.
