Chery Tiggo 7

In the previous facelift with this new Pro Max variant, Chery revised the layout of the cabin of the Tiggo 7, which makes it look extremely modern and feature-rich. The overall cabin of the Chery Tiggo 7 is being offered with an all-black layout with contrast silver and gloss black inserts that enhance the richness of the interior.

The rectangular driver’s cockpit placed behind the flat-bottom multi-functional steering wheel has twin 12.3-inch full-TFT screens, one each for the instrument console and touchscreen infotainment system placed beside each other. The centre console below the infotainment screen has a sleek rectangular layer spread across the dashboard’s width that accommodates the central and corner AC vents. The lower centre console here also comes with a touchscreen and physical rounded knobs for climate control and other drive-oriented functions of the SUV.

The transmission tunnel originating from the lower centre console is finished in a brushed aluminium theme while housing the compact transmission lever, electronic parking brake and hidden cup holders. The cabin of the Chery Tiggo 7 is further equipped with premium features like a panoramic sunroof, 64-colour ambient lighting, powered front seats, wireless charger, dual-zone automatic climate control with rear AC vents and more.

The Chery Tiggo 7 has a modern and aesthetic design, with sharp-looking design elements and creases all around giving it a dynamic and new-age look. For an SUV of its size, the Chery Tiggo 7 has the right proportions and modernness, making it very much a vehicle of the current day and age.

At the front, the Chery Tiggo 7 has sleek and trapezoidal headlamps which offer all-LED illumination with electric height adjustment. The bottom of these headlamps also come with LED turn indicator strips. The lower edges of these headlamps have chrome strips that flow towards the hexagonal grille, which also has chrome surrounds and diamond-shaped chrome-studded inserts. The large housings on the corners of the front bumper have T-shaped LED lights, that include vertical daytime running LEDs and fog lamps adjacent to them.

When viewed from the side, the Chery Tiggo 7 has a long and tall stance with a sharp and continuous running crease that runs from the edge of the headlamps to the rear fenders. While the front fender has a trapezoidal gloss black design element placed adjacent to the front doors, the rear fenders have a curved crease flowing over the rear wheel arches. With body cladding over rounded wheel arches and bottom of the door panels, the Chery Tiggo 7 comes with 18-inch machined alloy wheels with red brake callipers, silver roof rails and chrome garnish around the windows.

At the back, the Chery Tiggo 7 has wide and wraparound LED combination tail lamps, which are connected by a thick LED strip flowing across the width of the boot lid. While the rest of the boot lid has a clean and simple design, the rear profile of the Chery Tiggo 7 is complete with a roof-mounted spoiler, silver skid plate and blacked diffuser at the bottom.

The Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Max comes with a suspension combination of independent Macpherson struts at the front and multi-link at the rear, which are well-tuned to offer a composed and well-cushioned ride quality. However, the light steering and tall body stance make the overall handling of the Chery Tiggo 7 feel nervous at higher speeds.

The Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Max being offered in the UAE car market is available with a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine and a CVT as standard. While the performance numbers of this engine – 155 bhp of maximum power and 230 Nm of maximum torque – look impressive on paper, there is a lack of power at initial RPMs due to the pronounced turbo lag. The CVT also feels lazy at times, especially during fast-lane overtaking.

Besides the essential safety features like six airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, electronic stability program, hill hold assist, hill descent control and tyre pressure monitoring system, the Chery Tiggo 7 also comes with premium assistance features like lane departure warning, blind spot detection, door open warning, reverse tendency alert, adaptive cruise control, front collision warning with vehicle detection, autonomous emergency braking and 360-degree parking camera.

While the Chery Tiggo 7 might not be too much sorted in its driving appeal and performance, this midsize SUV does impress with its contemporary design, spacious and comfortable cabin and plenty of new-age features on offer.
