Cadillac CT4-V

The cabin of the 2024 Cadillac CT4-V isn't as premium as expected. Frankly speaking, it's a bit of a letdown. But its still better than any average non-luxury sedan. The car offers good outward visibility, despite the thick windshield pillars and the narrow rear window. The interior does look a bit dated, and material quality isn't at par with other luxury sedan brands. A lot of hard plastics have been used in the cabin, particularly on the doors and dashboards. It doesn't justify the sedan's price tag. Cadillac used faux-leather seats at a time when most of its rivals were using Nappa leather. The dashboard gets an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It's bundled with a 14-speaker Bose stereo system. The unit is slow in response, and the controller knob on the central console is wobbly, cheap, and needlessly redundant. Overall, the cabin is uninspiring.

The 2024 Cadillac CT4-V is a handsome-looking sedan, and changes to the car's exterior are relatively even-handed. The immediately recognizable vertical stacked lights, both in the back, are refined. The front gets a custom mesh grille, new lower fascia, custom badging and a rear spoiler. There's a quad-tipped exhaust system that pokes out through a restyled rear diffuser. The entry-level model of the 2024 Cadillac CT4-V has 18-inch alloy wheels, which is the biggest the company offers. The wheel wells are large. But bigger-size wheels would have impacted the clearance during aggressive turns. The Blackwing version gets optional exterior colors like Cyber Yellow Metallic, Velocity Red, Black Diamond Tricoat, and Coastal Blue Metallic. The Blackwing also adds a new Blackwing badge, along with limited-edition packages.

The front seats of the 2024 Cadillac CT4-V are spacious, with enough legroom and headroom. However, the rear seats are quite small for a sedan that claims to be premium. Rear legroom is usable, but headroom is rather limited, even for a short-height person. Accommodating three adults will cram the rear row. The rear seats are fine for youngsters. The 2024 Cadillac CT4-V comes with magnetic ride control. Even the traditionally-damped CT4-V still rides well. Some of the harder bumps are felt inside the cabin. Most of the regular bumps and potholes are absorbed nicely. The central console is of acceptable standard compared to other premium sedans. Door pockets and cupholders are small in size. Child seat attachment points are accessible. The air-conditioning offers fast cooling. 

The 2024 Cadillac CT4-V standard model is hauled by a turbocharged, four-cylinder, 2.7-litre petrol engine that produces 325PS/515Nm. The motor is mated to a 10-speed automatic. Handling is good, but the CT4-V isn't much sporty. While the transmission is seamlessly mated to the engine, the engine feels a bit artificial. Acceleration isn't particularly quick. The car is mounted on a stiff chassis that balances a comfortable ride with agile cornering. The 2024 Cadillac CT4-V adds magnetic dampers to moderate the stiffer tuning.

The 2024 Cadillac CT4-V is now equipped with the Super Cruise semi-autonomous highway driving system. It combines adaptive cruise control with lane-centering steering and automatic lane changes. The system allows hands-free driving. A driver-facing camera monitors driver alertness. Other standard features include rear parking sensors and multiple airbags. The voice recognition system works well.  

The 2024 Cadillac CT4-V has a starting price of AED 206,000. While Cadillacs are supposed to be high-luxury cars, this one is a disappointment. The CT4-V looks attractive, but the cabin is far from being close to premium. It needs to upgrade to face competition from other entry-level luxury sedans. However, it still may be a worthy vehicle for those eyeing the Cadillac brand name.
