As expected, the cabin layout of the Audi A5 Cabriolet is similar to that of the A5 Coupe, which continues to be a high-quality interior with tight and premium fit and finish levels. Oozing with quality, the cabin of the Audi A5 Cabriolet is finished in dual-tone black and dark brown leather upholstery as standard, which is further complemented by dark wood and aluminium inlays. However, one can opt for even more premium and expensive Nappa leather upholstery.

Sharing its layout with the A5 Coupe, the Audi A5 Cabriolet also gets a full-TFT virtual cockpit Plus instrument console behind the three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel and a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system in the upper centre console which pops up as and when needed.

The lower centre console of the cabin of the Audi A5 Cabriolet features a slim panel for the controls of three-zone automatic climate control. The other premium features offered in the Audi A5 Cabriolet are ambient lighting, powered front seats with memory function for the driver’s seat, leather steering wheel with multifunction plus and frameless interior rearview mirror. The cabin of the Audi A5 Cabriolet is adequate for four people, though the space at the rear is at a premium due to the folding mechanism of the roof.

The Audi A5 Cabriolet looks exactly like the two-door A5 Coupe, save for the soft top towards the rear that can fold down and up as and when required to experience the exclusive open-top motoring feel. The soft top can fold down and up in 15 seconds up to speeds of 50 kmph. Other than this, all the design elements of the Audi A5 Cabriolet all around are shared with the A5 Coupe, which makes it a beautiful-looking low-slung and wide car.

Sharing its front profile with the A5 Coupe, the Audi A5 Cabriolet has a hexagonal grille with chrome surrounds and honeycomb inserts in the middle and swanky-looking Matrix LED headlamps with curved upper edges and distinctive daytime running LEDs above them. While the bonnet above has smooth-looking curves flowing over it, the front bumper here gets aggressive-looking air intakes present on its corners.

Barring the soft top in place of a body-coloured hard top, the side profile of the Audi A5 Cabriolet is similar to that of the A5 Coupe. Here on the side, the Audi A5 Cabriolet has a smooth and flowing curved crease flowing from the edge of the headlamp to that of the tail lamp. The Audi A5 Cabriolet comes standard with a two-door layout with rearview mirrors mounted on the door panels, while the shoulder line here finished in chrome.

The chrome finish for the shoulder line flows in a wraparound manner below the foldable roof, with the Audi A5 Cabriolet also getting sleek and wide LED combination tail lamps that have been shared with the A5 Coupe. Also shared with the coupe version is the high-mounted loading lip and premium-looking rear diffuser with chrome garnish over the exhaust ports on either side.

The Audi A5 Cabriolet misses out on the Quattro all-wheel-drive technology, and instead, it gets a relatively cost-effective front-wheel drive setup. However, the multi-link setup at both front and rear with damper control makes the ride quality comfortable, while also keeping the Audi A5 Cabriolet on its toes at higher speeds. However, the overall suspension setup is a bit stiffer.

The Audi A5 Cabriolet shares its heart – a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine – with the A5 Coupe. Paired with a 7-speed S Tronic automatic transmission as standard, this turbocharged petrol powertrain can deliver a maximum power output of 190 PS and a maximum torque output of 320 Nm.

The safety equipment list on offer for the Audi A5 Cabriolet includes front and side airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, traction control, electronic stability control, park assist with 360-degree camera, active lane assist, cruise control, hold assist, Audi drive select with efficiency mode, Audi pre-sense rear and basic and lane change warning.

The Audi A5 Cabriolet is a considerable option for all those who desire the starry appeal of a two-door convertible sports car. While it misses out on the fire-breathing performance of a traditional sports car, the open-top motoring experience is worth the added premium it commands over the regular A5.
