Interior

The cockpit is designed intelligently with lot of space and lot of information for the convenience of occupants. It is likely that high class is expected from Audi and in many areas the A4 delivers with its substantial, soft feel, matt plastic textures, bright work flourishes and an aura of precision assembly. The current A4 seems to get more attractive with a slightly shorter front overhang than before and the overall dimensions of the car measures 4701mm X 1826mm X 1427mm (L X W X H) and the wheelbase measures 2808 mm that gives ample leg room and head room to the occupants.

Wheels

The wheels in the A4 are same for the three engine variants. Audi A4 embedding the base 1.8-litre & 2.0-litre engine is equipped with 16 inch alloys at rear and front where as the 3.0-litre variant is equipped with 18-inch 5-twin spoke alloy rims at rear and front. The tire parameters for both these rims are same measuring 225/ 55 R16 and 245/ 40 R18 respectively.

Mileage And Fuel Economy

The variable valve timing technology and turbocharger coupled with same engine makes it significantly economical. The start/ stop system equipped in the engine further improves the fuel economy and the mileage ranges between 6.5 to 5.4 L/ 100 km.

All the engines comes equipped with TFSI technology that leads to economical direct injection and turbocharging which enhance the overall performance in a significant manner. Audi A4 is powered by a 16 valve DOHC 1.8-Litre, 2.0-Litre and 3.0-Litre engine, each being compelling good on performance grounds. The maximum power measures 88 kW (1.8) between 3650 to 6200rpm, 125 kW (1.8 Valvelift) between 3800 to 6200 rpm, 165 kW (2.0-litre Quattro) between 4500 to 6250 rpm and 200 kW (3.0 L Quattro) between 4780 to 6500 rpm. Whereas, maximum torque measure 230 Nm (1.8 L) between 1500 to 3650 rpm, 320 Nm (1.8 Valvelift) between 1400 to 3700 rpm, 350 Nm (2.0 L Quattro) between 1500 to 4500 rpm and 400 Nm (3.0-litre Quattro) between 2150 to 4780 rpm. To further enhance the driving performance, the engine is coupled with 6 speed manual transmission and the 3.0-litre V6 engine is coupled with 7 speed S tronic transmission.

Acceleration & Pickup

The car's bodyshell is 10 per cent stiffer and lighter that results in an aerodynamic body. The 1.8-litre engine clocks 0 to 100 km/h mark in a time span of 10.5 seconds and the top speed rests at 208 km/h. The 3.0-litre Quattro engine does the same in a mere time span of 5.4 seconds and the top speed measures 250 kmph.

Braking And Handling

A4 is bestowed with dynamic handling having tremendous maneuvering capabilities due to the dynamic electric power steering that allows automatic counter- steering at the edge of adhesion to prevent understeer and improve braking stability. Though its the era of electronics, Audi has maintained the legacy of incorporating its steering system with hydraulics. Brakes at the front are ventilated disc type where as to the rear they managed to install solid disc type.

Safety And Security

Providing a plethora of features doesn't mean that Audi has missed out by any chance on the safety aspects. Audi has provided a package of safety features in order to keep its customers cocooned in adverse conditions. Audi A4 with 1.8-litre engine embeds 6 airbag- 2 at the front, 2 at head and 2 to the side where as the 2.0-litre & 3.0 Litre TFSI quattro version has two additional ones that is to the rear side. The new A4 comes with a couple of stabilization programs like the traction control, which maintains maximum traction without wheel spin. Electronic differential control ensures faster response time while cornering. Other safety systems such as the anti-lock braking system, electronic brake force distribution and brake assist provides efficient braking at high speeds. Apart from these , front and rear seat ISOFIX child seat mounting is also equipped. Reinforced bumpers at the rear and front make the vehicle encounter sudden impacts.
